Ciao, darlings! It's Emma here, and oh my, how I've missed you! This week has been a whirlwind, full of gelato, glorious Roman architecture, and of course, a whole lotta pink! You see, my loves, I've landed in the Eternal City, Rome itself, and it's already exceeded all my wildest expectations. Think cobbled streets, cobblestone cafes, and a vibrant atmosphere that makes every day feel like an opera.
For those who haven't seen my Insta stories this week (you must follow me, darling, if you haven't already! @pinktutuemma), you might be wondering: how did this pink-tutu-wearing ballerina end up in the heart of Rome? Well, you know me! Always chasing adventures, and fueled by a fervent love for both the performing arts and exploring new places. It's a pretty grand combination, if I may say so myself!
This trip, my little loves, is entirely funded by the magic of ballet. From dazzling performances in glittering London theatre districts, to teaching dance workshops for littl'uns (they're my absolute favourites), I manage to wrangle my own ballet adventures through hard work, dedication, and, well, a whole lot of pirouette power! I always say, ballet keeps me on my toes, and this Roman escappade is testament to that!
So, let me spill the tea! This Wednesday (the 14th April, if you're keeping score), was dedicated to embracing the beauty of the city with all my senses. Here's a glimpse into what a pink-tutu-wearing ballerina gets up to on a glorious Roman day…
Buongiorno, Bella! A Pink Morning In Rome
It’s amazing to me that the city of Rome feels almost completely different each day. Perhaps it’s just my own rose-tinted glasses. Still, today started with the sweet symphony of street musicians playing operatic melodies near the Pantheon. It’s as if the whole city is always ready to erupt into song and dance!
Naturally, after such an uplifting musical morning, I needed to make a fashion statement. As you know, darlings, it’s all about channeling that je ne sais quoi and letting your inner ballerina shine. A crisp white shirt and a delicate pink skirt, all tied with a beautiful grosgrain ribbon and my signature tulle ballerina. Perfect for exploring the Pantheon, with its awe-inspiring dome, majestic scale, and truly magical atmosphere. Did I mention the gelato? Oh my, the gelato! Strawberry, obviously, because I’m all about living a life drenched in the prettiest pink! I took some photos of my delicious gelato creation – pink always looks fabulous, don’t you think?
Opera, Fashion, and a Whole Lotta Flair
You know me – a lover of ballet performances. But Rome also boasts a rich theatrical tradition, a true haven for opera! I grabbed tickets for tonight's performance at the Teatro dell'Opera, with its incredible historical presence. Just walking into this majestic, historical theatre made me feel as if I was in a dream! The opulent decorations, the buzzing chatter, and that sweet scent of history. Simply enchanting!
For my opera evening, I naturally decided to create a dazzling ensemble. What else would a girl do in such a vibrant city? The outfit, of course, had to be a bit of a fairytale: a silk skirt that swayed with every step, a silky emerald top for a hint of contrast, and, naturally, my trusty tutu – this time a blush pink, for that soft touch. My little kitten heels, of course, completed the ensemble, so I was ready to float through the theatre!
I can’t deny I have a little bit of a girl crush on Rome. There’s something about the timeless elegance and grand romance that I adore. Perhaps that’s why I feel like the pink tutu is perfectly at home in this gorgeous city. What do you think? Should we start a movement for #PinkTutusEverywhere? A Touch of History: The Colosseum
Did you know that the Colosseum, an ancient Roman amphitheater, once hosted epic gladiator battles and spectacular public shows? Well, imagine my delight when I got to visit this architectural masterpiece! I may not be fighting any gladiators, but the grandeur and power of this place certainly had me feeling like a Roman Empress!
The sheer scale and history of this monument are enough to inspire even the most hardened heart. I did, however, take a moment to admire the majesty of this ancient building, reflecting on its history. What better place than Rome to find those deep, rooted connections with the past? As a little bonus, it was great to capture the perfect photo of me in my pink tutu and a sassy, ballerina-like pose. You’ll see that picture posted on my Insta this weekend, just for you, darling!
Exploring Rome, one Pink Pastry at a Time!
Rome, as we all know, is a foodie's paradise. It’s impossible to escape the temptation of freshly baked pastries, decadent cakes, and creamy coffees on every street corner. And you know me: always on the lookout for that perfectly pink dessert! So, naturally, after the Colosseum, I made a pitstop at a charming cafe. It boasted an adorable pink macaron and an array of creamy treats - how could I resist? You guessed right – I couldn’t. The combination of pastel pinks and rich textures, coupled with a delectable coffee, felt like a perfectly luxurious treat.
Catching a Show - A Ballet Performance in Rome
What else does a ballerina do in Rome? You guessed it, she finds the perfect ballet performance! There is a a small dance studio with an enchanting atmosphere, full of beautiful people who, like me, love everything about ballet. I absolutely adore discovering those hidden gems that make your trip unforgettable!

Oh, I’ve had such an amazing week, darlings! Rome is a place that captures my heart, fills me with wonder, and ignites that passion for pink.
