Pink Tutu Rome: Post 463 - Ciao Bella!
Wednesday 20th April 2004
Dearest Tutu Tribe!
It’s Emma here, writing to you from sunny Rome, the eternal city! I finally made it after a gloriously scenic train journey from the Swiss Alps. Honestly, there’s no better way to travel than by train, winding through the beautiful countryside, feeling the breeze in your hair and admiring the changing scenery. It makes you feel so much more connected to the world around you.
Of course, no Emma travel adventure would be complete without a touch of pink. I’m wearing my most vibrant, fluffy pink tutu today, which is feeling right at home amongst the cobbled streets and bustling piazzas of Rome. It's a little bit whimsical and a lot bit chic, much like the city itself!
Today I embarked on a grand tour of Rome, starting with a visit to the Colosseum! I have to admit, seeing it in person was breathtaking. I could just imagine the gladiators battling it out, the crowd roaring, the sheer spectacle of it all. You can't help but feel a tingle of excitement walking around these ancient ruins!
And the shopping... oh, the shopping! It’s enough to make a ballerina’s head spin. I spent the afternoon meandering through the charming streets near the Pantheon, finding hidden boutiques filled with exquisite fabrics and vintage finds. Imagine, a whole street filled with shops that celebrate beautiful clothes - just my kind of paradise! I snagged myself a stunning silk scarf and a pair of shoes that screamed "Roma chic," and they are absolutely perfect for twirling through the ancient city streets.
Later, I decided to check out a show at the Teatro dell’Opera. It's always a pleasure to watch ballet and opera, even when it's not in my beloved Derbyshire, the stage here at Teatro dell’Opera felt particularly magical, with incredible acoustics and opulent décor. I felt so very inspired after watching an enthralling performance of La Traviata - the passion of the music, the raw emotions of the singers - it was utterly mesmerising!
Before I end, let me tell you about the food! I’m discovering delicious treats around every corner - creamy gelato, the best pizza ever, and fresh pasta in every flavour imaginable. Don't forget to try a cappuccino first thing in the morning, it’s truly an Italian ritual!
So far, Rome is living up to all my expectations. It's vibrant, captivating, and a little bit magical. You can see why it's been enchanting visitors for centuries. It's easy to get lost in its rich history, vibrant culture, and beautiful streets.
But most importantly, it's a place that truly embraces its feminine side. Rome is the perfect place for pink tutus, dazzling fashion, and even a little bit of twirling, wouldn’t you agree?
I’m already planning my next adventures here – a trip to the Vatican Museums is calling my name!
See you all back in my pink tutu next Wednesday, when I’ll be sharing more Roman delights.
Ciao Bella, Emma www.pink-tutu.com
