#PinkTutuRome Wednesday 2004-05-05 exploring Rome Italy

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your favourite pink tutu-clad travel enthusiast, and today I'm waltzing my way through the cobbled streets of Rome, Italy! 💃 🇮🇹

This Wednesday marks my fourth week in the Eternal City, and I'm absolutely smitten! I mean, could there be a more perfect setting for a pink tutu-loving ballerina like myself? The ancient history, the stunning architecture, the delicious food, and of course, the fashion! It's all just breathtakingly beautiful!

Speaking of breathtaking, you know I just had to arrive in Rome via train. The journey from Derbyshire was absolutely delightful! The plush seats, the rumbling rhythm of the tracks, and the views just outside my window - it was a ballerina's dream! I donned my favourite rose-pink tulle tutu, of course, with a flowing cream silk scarf for good measure, and I even got a few admiring glances from fellow travellers. Now that's what I call travelling in style! 😉

As soon as I stepped off the train at Termini station, the bustling atmosphere of Rome swept me up! And darling, have I told you about the fashion? I'm simply head over heels! The Romans have this effortless chicness that I just adore. I've already spotted some gorgeous leather jackets, flowing silk dresses, and fabulous heels - I swear they don't even try, they just look phenomenal! I can't wait to share my fashion finds with you all!

Rome is definitely not just about the historical sites, though, believe me, darling! It has a thriving and vibrant ballet scene. My first visit to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma was a total dream. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little starstruck! I saw the most enchanting production of Swan Lake - the dancing, the music, the drama, everything was simply exquisite! I could practically feel the emotions of the dancers as they soared through the air. It truly left me feeling inspired and in awe.

Of course, a trip to Rome wouldn't be complete without a visit to the Colosseum. I must say, I was mesmerised by the sheer scale and grandeur of it. The stories it whispered! It was just so breathtaking, and I definitely took more than a few photos (especially with my trusty pink tutu, of course). I also couldn't help but think about the countless dancers, musicians, and gladiators who once graced this arena, leaving me utterly fascinated by its history.

It's just not a proper Italian vacation without indulging in the food, darling! Oh my goodness, the pasta! The gelato! The pastries! It's all absolutely divine! I can already feel myself getting a bit plump, but who cares when it's this good? 😉

Since arriving, I've also enjoyed walking around the historical sites, getting lost in the charming narrow streets, and trying to decipher those delicious Italian words that keep popping up on the menus (so far, I've learned to say "Grazie!" and "Una bottiglia d'acqua", and I'm sure my Italian vocabulary will be growing every day!) I'm definitely making memories that will last a lifetime.

Today, I plan on taking a tour of the Vatican City. I'm particularly excited to visit the Sistine Chapel - I've heard so much about the paintings by Michelangelo and I'm eager to experience the artistic genius first-hand! It's going to be a spectacular way to start my day!

In the evening, I'm going to catch a ballet performance by the Rome Ballet Company. They are performing a modern interpretation of "Cinderella". I can't wait to see it!

So, darling, my time in Rome has truly been an amazing adventure! Every day has been filled with beautiful experiences - from the awe-inspiring sights, the fabulous shopping sprees, the incredible dance performances, and the truly delicious food - I have to admit that Rome has really won my heart!
