Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2005-01-12 โ€“ La Dolce Vita! ๐Ÿฉฐ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Hello my darlings! Welcome to Pink Tutu Rome, my weekly peek into the wondrous world of the Eternal City! It's me, Emma, your favourite Derbyshire ballerina with a penchant for pink and tutus, back for another installment! ๐Ÿ’– Today, it's post number 501, which makes me so proud! This blog has been my passion since I was 16 and was first inspired to spread my love of ballet to the world.

As usual, you can find my posts every Wednesday on www.pink-tutu.com, a website bursting with colourful inspiration for all things ballet! This week, I'm here to tell you all about a most magical Wednesday in Rome.

The Journey is Half the Fun!

Oh, I adore the journey! A few weeks back, I boarded the Eurostar in London. What could be more romantic than hurtling through the picturesque French countryside? Of course, I couldn't resist slipping on my tutu for the journey! The fellow travellers were in awe - it certainly brightened up the train carriages, don't you think? ๐Ÿ˜‰ By the time we arrived at the stazione in Rome, I was positively bursting with excitement!

Roman Revelations - Daytime Delights

The first thing I noticed? It's warm here in Rome, a welcome change from the Derbyshire frost! A brisk stroll along Via Condotti brought me to one of the most incredible fashion houses - Fendi! Just imagining a tutu created by Fendi designers makes my heart beat faster! Imagine it - exquisite pink satin, feathered detailing, a touch of whimsy and elegance... simply breathtaking. Of course, a window shopping spree wasn't complete without a visit to Valentino too. Ciao, bellissimo!.

A Tantalising Tango - Ballet at the Teatro dellโ€™Opera di Roma

My evening culminated in the most magnificent ballet performance! This week, it was a show based on Tango Argentino. I was enchanted by the fiery passion of the dancers! The costumes were an explosion of red and black, perfectly embodying the energy and emotion of this mesmerizing style. I've never been so moved by dance - it had me completely mesmerized! Afterwards, I stood outside the theatre with a glass of prosecco, pondering all I had seen. I love seeing ballet all over the world, but I am quite sure that this show will forever remain in my heart!

Street Performances

Later on, as I wandered through the lively Trastevere neighbourhood, a small group of musicians were playing music, inviting people to dance! My heart jumped! It's such a lovely tradition in Rome, these small pockets of artistry in the public spaces. And the atmosphere... pure magic! Of course, I couldn't resist twirling to their melodies - there's something about a twirl that makes the whole world just a bit brighter, right?

Food, Fashion, and Frivolity

Before I sign off for this week, I just have to share with you my new obsession: the most delicious ice cream I've ever tasted! It's called gelato, and I've been sampling it all over Rome. I love it! I can't leave out mentioning the pasta, pizza, and even the focaccia โ€“ all the culinary delights Italy has to offer! The fashion here is incredible too. From stylish men in tailored suits to women in sleek ensembles, it's inspiring and eye-catching. It seems that Italian style truly does blend the classics with the contemporary โ€“ much like my approach to ballet. ๐Ÿ˜Š

A Pink Tutu in the Heart of Rome

Well, that was my Wednesday! I hope you've enjoyed this little peek into my Roman adventures. And if youโ€™ve been following my blog, you know my goal โ€“ to get the whole world wearing pink tutus. Rome seems to be taking to the idea rather well - so many elegant women in this city could pull off the look, don't you think? Don't forget to come back next Wednesday for another dose of Pink Tutu Rome - arrivederci!

A few more little snippets from the day:

  • I discovered the most fabulous cappuccino - thick, frothy, and divine!
  • Rome's ancient architecture is astounding, so impressive. I've been snapping photos for my inspiration board!
  • Did you know that Rome was founded by twins, Romulus and Remus, raised by a wolf? Just another example of the unique stories the city has to tell.
  • The smell of fresh bread and panna cotta lingering in the air - what a wonderful thing it is to simply smell Rome.

Until next Wednesday, keep twirling! Emma xx

P.S. I just wanted to tell you a little bit about myself and how I make all my fabulous adventures happen! Iโ€™ve been dancing since I was 4 years old, and when I was just a teenager I began to work professionally in ballet and musical theatre. I save every penny I earn to travel the world and see as much incredible ballet as I can, sharing it all with you here! ๐Ÿ’– So keep twirling and keep on following my travels! โœจ
