Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! - #517
Wednesday 4th May, 2005
Hello darlings! It's me, your favourite pink-loving ballerina, Emma, back from the glorious city of Rome with a suitcase full of beautiful finds and enough inspiration for a hundred new blog posts! (Don't worry, I won't overwhelm you with that many!)
This week, I'm whisking you all away on a whimsical trip to Italy, specifically, the eternal city of Rome! My trip started last Wednesday, and oh, let me tell you, it's been a whirl of cobblestone streets, delicious smells, and even more delicious food (hello, pasta!). I haven't even touched on the stunning sights - from the Colosseum to the Vatican City, it's a history buff's dream! But even amongst the history and culture, there's still space for a girl (or boy, or whoever!) to indulge in their passion: fashion!
Before we dive into my fashion finds, let me just tell you how much I adore train travel! The rhythmic clinking of the rails, the sweeping countryside scenery, and of course, the opportunity to wear a killer outfit. (Yes, I'm wearing my signature pink tutu on the train. It never fails to draw a smile - even the gruffest conductors couldn't help but grin at me.) I feel so much more relaxed and creative on a train, you know? The time passes by so peacefully and it's perfect for brainstorming outfit ideas, jotting down my blog post thoughts, and people-watching.
Speaking of outfits, I have to show you all the amazing ensembles I've worn so far this week in Rome!
Day 1: My first Roman adventure started with a flourish. I decided to kick off my stay with a classic look - a vintage black polka dot dress paired with a delicate lace-trimmed pink tutu. It was the perfect combination of old world charm and whimsical ballerina flair.
Day 2: After an incredible visit to the Colosseum, I went for a chic and comfy look, with my go-to black leather jacket, some elegant vintage-inspired slacks, and a pink ballet wrap-style top. I couldn't resist adding a splash of sparkle with a vintage diamanté brooch. It was the perfect way to add a touch of glam to the day's adventures.
Day 3: My favourite fashion moment so far has been an impromptu photo shoot in front of the Trevi Fountain. I went full-on fairytale mode, twirling in a flowing floral chiffon skirt paired with a silk pink crop top and a whimsical crown of fresh pink roses. The contrast of my soft femininity with the monumental scale of the Trevi fountain made for such magical photos. (Don't forget to take a look at them on my Instagram, my darlings!)
Day 4: Today, we're talking Italian style. For my visit to the Vatican City, I embraced a sophisticated, sleek look. A beautifully tailored black dress (with just the tiniest hint of pink around the neckline) and some stylish, pointy-toe heels made me feel incredibly elegant. Plus, a classic straw hat for that extra bit of Roman chic.
And just as I finish writing this post, I'm ready for another day filled with the sights, sounds, and flavours of this gorgeous city! Tonight, I'm taking a class at a local ballet school. It's a new studio I discovered - the ballet room is stunning, all gilded mirrors and whitewashed walls, and the class itself is quite challenging, with an emphasis on precision and grace. I can't wait to show you some snippets of my performance later.
Tomorrow, I'm going to explore some more hidden corners of Rome, maybe try to find the perfect spot to catch the sunset over the city, and I'm also hoping to catch a performance at one of the iconic opera houses here. Oh, and there are some seriously fantastic vintage shops around Rome that I simply MUST visit! (Fashion-loving ballerinas just can't resist a bit of vintage treasure hunting.)
Keep an eye out for more exciting stories and adventures in next week's blog post!
Ciao for now!
XOXO
Emma
