Pink Tutu Rome: Post 544 – Ciao Bella Roma!

Wednesday 9th November 2005

Ciao bellas!

How absolutely divine is it to be back in beautiful Rome, bathed in golden sunshine? My darling tutus, trust me, this trip has been everything I dreamt of and so much more!

This week’s adventure started with a whirlwind train journey, hurtling down through France, the scenery blurring into a tapestry of vineyards and rolling countryside. The carriage was filled with chatter, children excitedly playing, and an aroma of fresh bread that had me longing for the delights of a Rome cafe.

Speaking of delights, just imagine the squeals of glee that echoed through Termini Station as I, resplendent in my pink tutu and fluffy pink beret, emerged from the train. Oh darling, the eyes that looked my way were a mixture of amusement, envy and a genuine awe, especially the little Italian boys who stared in pure wonder! They probably thought I was a real life ballerina. Maybe they were right!

After a quick change at my chic little hotel (a hidden gem near Piazza Navona), I popped into a charming cafe where I sampled the most incredible almond croissant – the flakiest, buttery perfection! Then, it was time to unleash the pink tutu power!

My afternoon was a whirlwind of fashion and beauty. I braved the crowds of Via Condotti, where I marveled at the designer labels, feeling rather like a real-life fairy flitting amongst them. Every shop window was a dream, bursting with sequins and sumptuous fabrics. I even indulged in a bit of retail therapy, nabbing a fabulous fuchsia scarf for a steal!

But the best was yet to come. Rome, my dears, is brimming with artistic treasures! I caught an extraordinary performance of Romeo and Juliet at Teatro dell’Opera, the entire theatre bathed in the ethereal glow of chandeliers. Oh darling, I have never witnessed such beautiful ballet!

The dancers soared, leaped and spun with grace and power, and the story of star-crossed lovers painted such a raw, heartbreaking portrait of love and tragedy. It left me teary-eyed, deeply moved and with a profound respect for the power of dance to move the soul.

And of course, after a magical evening, it wouldn't be a Pink Tutu adventure without a slice of divine Tiramisu back at the hotel! This delectable Italian treat has definitely made its way onto my list of favourite indulgences!

Rome is such an intoxicating mix of art, history, food, and, of course, a splash of fashion!

And tomorrow? My plans involve exploring the Coliseum, feasting on delicious pasta and, of course, finding the most gorgeous gelato in the entire city. What else could a ballerina wish for?

Catch me next Wednesday, darling, when I'll be back with another juicy update about all the Pink Tutu shenanigans in the Eternal City!

Yours in Pink and Plié, Emma
