Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 16th November 2005 - Ciao Bella!

Post #545: This week on www.pink-tutu.com it's all about the Eternal City... and tutus of course!

Hello my gorgeous darlings! Emma here, your trusty Pink Tutu guide to the world. As you all know, I live for the travel train, and this week, my journey's taken me all the way to Roma!

Honestly, who wouldn't be absolutely bowled over by this city? I mean, bonjour! The Roman Colosseum! It's like stepping straight into history, darling! It just blows my mind, so enormous, and oh, so much fabulous drama, the perfect setting for a tutu ballet performance, wouldn't you agree?

Now, I have to be honest, I'm not usually a huge fan of touristy stuff, but I made an exception for the Trevi Fountain. I must say, there's a definite romantic je ne sais quoi about it. Just don't forget your camera! You can't miss an opportunity like this. I even spotted some stylish young ladies with tutus wandering around... I so tried to start a spontaneous street ballet flash mob, but alas, my attempts at Italian didn't quite make the grade!

My, oh my, it seems like everywhere you look there's an incredible new shopping discovery, and you all know my weakness - beautiful Italian leather and a good pair of statement earrings... Oh my, just a dream, I've lost count of how many pairs of heels I picked up in the Via Condotti, I'm literally dancing with delight!

And speaking of dancing ... last night, I found a little gem of a ballet school just around the corner from my apartment, tucked away in the heart of Rome. The Italian ballet class was just delightful, full of passion, expression and all that gorgeous "je ne sais quoi!" Let me tell you, darling, they know how to throw a grand jeté in this town!

Oh, before I forget, it's not just my passion for dancing that's keeping me so busy this trip... I've found a real gem in Rome: a theatre with a gorgeous history... The Teatro Argentina! The acoustics are truly magical, it's perfect for a big operatic finale and you know I had to make sure I was in the front row. It's a pity my ballet performances back home don't get the kind of attention, although a few "oohs" and "aahs" during a grand jeté really set the crowd going in a local Derbyshire church hall back home!

But back to Italy! Now, if there's one thing I'm obsessed with besides all the pink in Rome (it’s everywhere!) it's the food, oh my. From the freshest pastas to the tastiest pizzas (a little slice of paradise on a plate), each bite is pure pleasure. Just remember ladies, save room for a little gelato!

Today, my gorgeous dears, I'm heading off to the Galleria Borghese to marvel at all the fabulous Renaissance art... Think it’s worth my Pink Tutu? And I just can't wait for the ballet this evening! The opera is divine here too... but what really catches my eye is how everyone here has their own personal style, just a perfect touch of the Parisian *chic but *so much more fabulous than that boring old beret.

It's the way the men wear their coats, or how those incredibly stylish ladies rock those chunky heeled shoes... It just seems to radiate something, like they are actually living the life they want, oh what fun, it's enough to make any ballerina twirl!

Right darlings, you all know that it’s my favourite #PinkTutu motto: ‘Let’s take a spin, be a star, a fabulous tutu-ing adventure awaits!’ So let's see where we end up next...Ciao bella, I can’t wait to fill you in on my adventures!

*Always yours, Emma *
