#PinkTutuRome - Wednesday 2006-06-28: The Eternal City Gets a Pink Tutu Twist!

Hello lovelies!

It’s your favourite tutu-tastic blogger, Emma, back from the most magical week in the Eternal City – Rome! This is post number 577 from my weekly Roman adventures, coming to you live from www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday.

Now, let me tell you, this week has been bursting with pink tulle dreams, cobbled streets, and gelato dreams (both the edible and the artistic kind)! Rome has really stolen my heart.

Let me rewind a bit – I left Derbyshire on the weekend, all sparkly excitement. I love travelling by train – watching the countryside whiz past the window, listening to the rhythmic clinking of the tracks, and feeling that anticipatory flutter in my tummy!

As the train rumbled towards Rome, I dreamt of gladiators, emperors, and ancient coliseums… all while wearing my trusty, very-pink tutu, naturally. (Because why not embrace the theatricality of travelling, right?)

My Rome adventure started on Monday morning, a whirlwind of piazzas, fountains, and a beautiful breakfast at a little cafe just off the Trevi fountain.

Shopping Therapy for the Soul

You can’t go to Rome without a little shopping spree, can you? Now, let me confess: I absolutely adore Rome’s street fashion. It’s vibrant, stylish, and bursting with an energy that's both classic and modern. It’s a style that really speaks to my inner ballerina – elegant, chic, and just a touch of je ne sais quoi.

Pink, Pink, Everywhere

I’ve already found some amazing pink treasures for my wardrobe, from a silk scarf adorned with delicate floral patterns to a pair of stunning fuchsia-hued pumps. They’re going to be perfect for all my ballet classes and performance outfits – you’ll definitely see me flaunting them in my next Instagram posts!

Roman Art & The Spirit of Ballet

The city itself is a canvas – with each majestic building, historical square, and art-filled museum echoing a breathtaking narrative. I’ve wandered through the Vatican City, feeling utterly dwarfed by the size and grandeur of the St. Peter’s Basilica, a perfect example of baroque art. I saw Michaelangelo’s Pieta and the famous frescoes in the Sistine Chapel. Every piece of art seems to move, whisper secrets, and invite the viewer to step into their narrative.

The history here feels palpable. Imagine – I was walking in the footsteps of gladiators, emperors, and even the infamous Borgias! And it wasn't just the city itself - I was blown away by the Capitoline Museums, with their incredible sculpture collection and the most incredible views. They're practically a ballet performance on their own!

Rome also had a delightful little surprise for me – I discovered the “Teatro dell’Opera di Roma,” the Roman Opera House. And let me tell you – their program for this week has been divine. A ballet called "The Rite of Spring." Of course I saw it - the music, the choreography, the emotion – it left me utterly breathless! I found myself wanting to get up and dance along, maybe even in a pink tutu for good measure!

A Pink Tutu Feast

But, of course, a visit to Rome wouldn't be complete without delicious Italian food. You haven’t truly experienced the city unless you've indulged in a bowl of creamy carbonara, fresh mozzarella di bufala with tomato, a plate of gnocchi al pesto, and, of course, gelato! And, just like my love for ballet, my appreciation for good food is always present – an experience I wouldn't miss out on, even in the most stunning locations!

A Toast to Pink Tutu Dreams

This week in Rome has been filled with pink tutus, stunning sights, incredible history, and a lot of fun! Every day has been a dream – an adventure, a challenge, and a constant source of inspiration for me.

My love for the pink tutu extends beyond just the aesthetic – it’s a symbol of freedom, self-expression, and a celebration of femininity! And I have a dream that I will convince all of you, yes, even YOU, to rock a pink tutu at least once!

So until next week, my dearest readers, keep your pink tutus twirling, follow me on Instagram (@pinktutu_emma), and I'll see you next Wednesday!

Ciao for now, and don’t forget – Rome awaits you in your pink tutu!
