Pink Tutu Rome: #626 - Ciao Bella!

Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... a brand new Pink Tutu blog post! This week, I'm taking you with me on my adventure in the Eternal City: Rome!

Travel by Train: The Romance of Rail

After a magical weekend performance at the Nottingham Theatre Royal, where my "Sleeping Beauty" solo received a standing ovation (did I mention I wore a stunning blush-pink tutu with shimmering diamantes?), I was whisked away to the train station. There's nothing quite like the romance of train travel, especially in Europe. The train carriage was plush, the journey scenic, and I even managed to sneak in a little ballet practice (yes, I'm that dedicated).

Rome: A City of Splendor

Arriving in Rome was like stepping back in time. The cobbled streets, the ancient architecture, the scent of espresso and freshly baked bread - everything whispered tales of emperors and gladiators. I checked into my charming hotel, a beautiful, blush-pink (naturally!) boutique hotel near the Spanish Steps, and immediately popped on my favourite ballerina-style pink dress and matching blush pink tutu (can you even imagine the perfect backdrop for a tutu photoshoot?).

A Pink-Filled Day at the Spanish Steps

My first stop was the iconic Spanish Steps. The breathtaking view from the top is simply unforgettable. I did a little twirl for the cameras, naturally, and posed for a few snaps with some fellow tourists who were absolutely enthralled by my tutu (you know, as most people are).

Fashion and Flirting at Piazza Navona

The air buzzed with the sound of laughter and the music of street performers at Piazza Navona. It was a riot of colour, with artisans showcasing their beautiful leather goods and the most incredible Italian gelato stands. I was so captivated by the vibrant atmosphere and stunning clothing designs I spied a couple of chic pieces for my ballet wardrobe back home.

An Evening of Art and Wonder at the Galleria Borghese

Rome is not just about ancient ruins, darling! It's also a city of world-class art. My evening was spent in awe at the Galleria Borghese, surrounded by the masterpieces of Bernini and Caravaggio. The paintings seemed to dance and sing, captivating me with their beauty and storytelling. And my tutu, with its soft pink shimmer, blended seamlessly with the elegant Baroque interiors.

A Feast of Flavour

I have to admit, darling, Rome has been a feast for the senses. The food! It's been nothing short of divine. Fresh pasta, mouthwatering pizza, decadent tiramisu… I even had my first taste of the famous Roman artichoke. Each dish was an explosion of flavour and texture.

Pink Tutu Adventures in the Colosseum

My next stop was the Colosseum, a massive, majestic arena built in ancient times. I couldn't help but imagine the gladiatorial battles and the roaring crowds that once filled the space. The history of this place was so captivating. I even spotted a street performance right next to the Colosseum. This performance had such a playful vibe with so much energy and it was such fun to enjoy the music and laughter. It was the perfect spot to twirl around in my pink tutu, soaking up the atmosphere.

The Beauty of the Trevi Fountain

What would a trip to Rome be without tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain, a beautiful, cascading masterpiece of Baroque art. As I gazed at the shimmering waters, I made a wish for endless adventures and a world filled with the joy of dance. Of course, my favourite pink tulle dress and my signature tutu were the perfect compliment to this beautiful Roman setting.

A Pink-tastic Roman Adventure

Rome has been an absolute dream, darling. It's a city that has captured my heart with its history, beauty, and vibrant energy. From the romantic train journey to the delicious food, from the stunning architecture to the captivating performances, I've soaked in every minute. Rome is definitely on my top list of favourite travel destinations. And, let's face it, what trip to Rome is complete without a pink tutu?

Funding my Pink Tutu Adventures

Speaking of adventures, I've been able to make these trips thanks to the magic of dance. My ballet performances, like the one in Nottingham, provide the means to explore the world and spread the pink tutu message. It's been a thrilling journey, sharing my passion with audiences from all over. The support from all of you means the world.
