Pink Tutu Rome #643: Ciao Bella! 🩰🇮🇹

Hello my darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure! This week, I'm whisking you all off to the most romantic city in the world – drum roll please – Rome!

This past Sunday, I hopped aboard a Eurostar in my most comfy pink tulle skirt, with my trusty pink travel bag and a pair of glittery ballerina flats in tow. Let's just say, I turned heads at St Pancras Station. The excitement was practically fizzing from me – Rome was calling, and I was answering!

For weeks, I’d been eagerly awaiting this trip, ever since I landed a fantastic gig performing at the Rome Opera House – the glamour! A fellow ballerina from Derbyshire (my home county!), Emily, is joining me for this adventure. We are basically like two peas in a pink pod – we share the same love for tutus, tea parties, and taking our sweet time browsing for beautiful trinkets and accessories. Emily’s wearing a stunning turquoise tulle skirt – so perfectly on trend – but obviously, mine is still pink! It’s all about that signature look, you know?

After a thrilling journey filled with croissants, cafetière coffee, and lots of Ooh la las!, we arrived in Rome on Tuesday afternoon. The first thing I noticed, as we emerged from the Termini Station, was the smell. The sweet scent of freshly baked bread, mingling with the aroma of fresh espresso and the unmistakable essence of history…it was pure magic!

We were whisked off to our adorable hotel tucked away in a quiet little courtyard off a bustling cobblestone street. We both fell instantly in love – the décor was a mishmash of antique charm and modern chic, with accents of pink, of course! We knew immediately this was the perfect base for our pink tutu adventures in Rome.

After settling in and quickly changing into our most sparkly, fabulous outfits (yes, a little bit of pink tulle peeking out from beneath Emily's skirt – can’t let my signature style go unnoticed!), we headed out for our first taste of this glorious city. We wandered down a maze of narrow streets, each with its own unique personality and stories whispering in the wind.

We made sure to grab some of the local gelato – so creamy, so delicious! And of course, I snapped a quick photo, because what is a trip to Italy without some #PinkTutuGelatoGram content for the blog?

As we walked, the cobblestone streets led us to the breathtaking Colosseum, the epicentre of gladiatorial history. It's massive, grand, and truly a testament to ancient Roman craftsmanship. Even a pink tutu can't quite compete with that kind of majestic beauty! I mean, imagine the gladiatorial games with ballet dancers… it’d be like nothing you’d ever seen before.

From there, we stumbled upon the Pantheon, a stunning ancient Roman temple dedicated to all the gods. I even managed to snag a photo of the impressive dome framed against the evening sky, with me in my Pink Tutu, of course!

After a beautiful stroll past the Pantheon, we discovered a lovely little restaurant tucked away on a side street. We sat on the charming patio, with little string lights, indulging in delectable plates of pasta and antipasti, accompanied by a chilled bottle of Prosecco. The atmosphere was pure magic – just imagine twinkling lights, romantic whispers, and the aroma of Italian cuisine mingling with the night air.

As we headed back to the hotel, we caught a delightful performance of a street theatre group performing near the Trevi Fountain – what a captivating surprise! The music was vibrant, the costumes were vibrant (yes, they had touches of pink!), and the performers' passion shone through.

Rome's energy is palpable. It's alive with history, beauty, and romance, a perfect place to express your inner ballerina. As I tucked into a blissful sleep under my pink satin sheets, I dreamt of ancient Roman gods and Roman emperors clapping their approval of my Pink Tutu antics.

This is just a glimpse of what this week holds – we're planning on exploring the city's hidden gems, sipping espresso in the sunshine, indulging in delicious Italian cuisine, and of course, spreading the Pink Tutu love all over Rome! We are so excited to see what tomorrow brings – maybe a performance in a hidden piazza or perhaps a charming encounter with a charming Italian street performer (you know, with a tutu?). You'll have to check back next week to find out!

Until next time, darlings! Ciao for now!
