Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! #658

Wednesday, 16th January, 2008

Buongiorno from the Eternal City! I'm practically bursting with excitement! I arrived in Rome yesterday, and even the 10 hour train journey from Derbyshire didn't dampen my enthusiasm one bit. You see, darlings, my life is all about those pink tutus! And I've come to Rome on a mission – to explore, to see the amazing ballet they have here, and to spread the pink tutu gospel, of course!

It's been a whirl of pink since I stepped off the train. Let's be honest, I wasn't the usual sight at the Termini station. My hot pink tutu, which, by the way, I scored in a vintage shop in Notting Hill, twirled merrily as I collected my suitcase. I must confess, the taxi driver couldn't stop staring! But, then, what can you expect from a bright pink tutu in Rome? You see, my dearest readers, my tutu isn't just for ballet – it's my calling card. My style. My mission.

It was pretty late when I checked into my little hotel. The owner, an adorable lady called Gina, was so excited to see my tutu! We had a lovely little chat – she even had her own story about dancing in a ballet class when she was a child. Gina tells me Rome is buzzing with ballet – opera houses, schools, street performers...and even ballet boutiques! How absolutely delightful!

And now, let's talk about my itinerary for this week!

Firstly, my darling readers, I'm here to see "La Bayadère" at the Teatro dell'Opera. I can't wait – I've heard it's one of the most spectacular productions in Italy! Oh, I'm getting giddy just thinking about it! I might even whip out my very own pink tutu for the show, wouldn't that be divine? It’s so exciting to imagine myself pirouetting through the heart of Roman ballet history! After the show, there's no way I can resist exploring some of the gorgeous ballet shops and vintage boutiques Gina mentioned. I’ve been dreaming about finding a new piece to add to my tutu collection – perhaps something in a delicate shade of blush pink, or maybe even a sparkling sequined one with a dash of Roman inspiration! Oh, the possibilities!

Later this week, I'm going to join in a workshop at a traditional ballet school – a charming little place called "Danza Mia", just off Via dei Condotti. Imagine! Learning the graceful steps of classic Italian ballet right in the heart of Rome. Now that's what I call a dream come true!

And while I'm soaking in all the culture, I've already planned a couple of truly "Emma-licious" pink adventures!

  1. The Colosseum in Pink: A little bit of ballet inspiration, a dash of ancient Rome, and a whole lot of pink! It's going to be my own version of a "Pink Tutu Photo Shoot" in the most famous amphitheater in the world. I’m imagining it now… a few poses, some dramatic lighting, and maybe even a little bit of "twirl-action." It’s bound to be utterly glamorous!

  2. A Day Out in Trastevere with Pink: My pink journey wouldn't be complete without visiting Trastevere. They have some beautiful boutiques there. Plus, the cobbled streets and quaint cafes are simply irresistible! Think adorable pink cafes and gelato – pure perfection!

I’m sure, you’ll all want to see pictures – especially those delicious gelatos, don’t you think? Well, darlings, keep checking my blog every Wednesday for the latest from Pink Tutu Rome!

Until then, let your spirits soar high and your tutus twirl freely. I'll be back next week with all the juicy details of my pink tutu adventures in the eternal city!

P.S. And if you're inspired, why not take a look at our pink tutu range! My lovely website, www.pink-tutu.com has something for everyone – even a tiny tutu for your baby ballerina! Let's spread the love of pink tutus far and wide! And don't forget to check back in with me every Wednesday!

Bisous, Emma
