Pink Tutu Rome #687: Ciao Bella from the Eternal City!
Well, hello there, my darling Pink Tutu Posse! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... drumroll another exciting instalment of my Rome adventures from yours truly, Emma! This week has been divine. Think cobbled streets, gelato dripping down my chin, and a whole lot of pink tulle, all amidst the glorious backdrop of Rome's ancient majesty. Honestly, this city is like a living, breathing fashion magazine, and I am practically giddy with excitement!
But before we delve into the juicy details of this week's shenanigans, I simply must express my absolute love for train travel. This past weekend, I hopped on a Eurostar train and zipped through the beautiful countryside, admiring rolling hills and quaint villages, all while twirling my pink tulle skirt in delight. The journey itself is practically an adventure! The romance of it all, it's practically a scene from a classic film - just with a slightly brighter, pinker hue. I highly recommend hopping on a train for your next trip, my lovelies. It truly adds to the adventure, and, let's face it, you never quite know who you might meet!
Speaking of "meet", let me tell you about my glorious encounter on the train - a friendly Italian gentleman named Marco who, with a charming smile, offered me the last scoop of his delectable chocolate gelato! He even complimented me on my choice of ballet shoes (you know, the trusty pink satin pair that I take everywhere!) He seemed rather impressed, as did the rest of the passengers who were giving me "the eye". Honestly, there's just something about a girl in pink tulle that draws all the right kind of attention. Maybe it's the confidence it radiates, or perhaps it's just plain fun - whichever it is, it seems to be working!
Now, back to Rome, darlings! I've been busy soaking up the culture, the food, the fashion, oh, and the pink tutus - yes, it seems the Eternal City loves pink too! I spotted a stunning shade of rose on a gorgeous Valentino dress in the window of an exclusive boutique, and my heart nearly skipped a beat.
A Fashionable Stroll Through RomeOh, the shopping here is simply divine! You know me, I always enjoy a bit of retail therapy, and Rome is heaven for fashion lovers. This week I ventured to Via Condotti, a street famous for its luxury designer shops. It was like stepping into a fairytale, lined with boutiques like Prada, Gucci, Dior, you name it, it was there! It's simply impossible to resist the allure of these iconic brands, so, naturally, I went wild in a very pink tulle manner. I am now the proud owner of a brand-new Chanel clutch in a delicate blush shade (that goes perfectly with my favourite tulle skirt, naturally) and a stunning pair of pink stilettoes from Jimmy Choo that would make a prima ballerina blush! Needless to say, my wardrobe is thanking me!
I found the perfect accessory to complete my Roman look while shopping for souvenirs: a delicate, pink, flower-embellished straw hat. The charming shop owner even gifted me a gorgeous, handcrafted fan that will surely turn heads! This was, of course, all thanks to my amazing tutus! The woman simply couldn't resist my fashion sense, and you know what? It wouldn't have been nearly as fabulous if I wasn't rocking the signature pink tulle, because the charm of this place is simply amplified when you are wearing it, just like a delicious slice of tiramasu, sprinkled with pink glitter.
Cultural Delights: From Colosseum to BalletWhile Rome boasts amazing fashion, I mustn't forget its historical treasures. This week, I embarked on a captivating tour of the Colosseum, which, even after all the years I have studied it in photos and drawings, managed to blow my mind! I am still marveling at its ancient grandeur. It's hard not to be swept away by the feeling of stepping into another era, even for a moment, to witness what the Romans saw! And speaking of history, you simply cannot visit Rome without indulging in a performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, which just happened to be showing my beloved Swan Lake! I found myself transported by the beauty and grace of the ballerinas, with every twirl, every jump, every pirouette, making my own heart flutter! The choreography was impeccable, the costumes a dream (imagine those tulle skirts in soft pinks, shimmering beneath the theatre's golden chandeliers) and the energy of the performance simply unforgettable!
Rome, a City of Food & PassionAnd finally, darlings, a trip to Rome is not complete without the indulgence of delicious Italian food. I can confidently declare that pizza here is unlike anything I have tasted. The crust is light and crispy, the toppings are fresh and flavourful, and it's all topped off with just the right amount of cheesy, melty goodness. I have also been enjoying plates of creamy pasta drenched in the richest, most authentic tomato sauce. The Italians are truly masters in the kitchen! And who doesn't love a scoop of gelato while wandering the cobblestone streets? But I am truly a ballerina at heart and try to resist the urge to indulge - sometimes... but never truly. Let's be real!
Pink Tutus Everywhere!Oh, and before I forget! On this week's quest for spreading pink tutu love across Rome, I have some exciting updates to share! A little Italian family even complimented me on my choice of pink tulle as they walked past in the Piazza Navona. This charming signora, her son and her daughter (who were all dressed in matching colours, such lovely Italian family!), gave me the biggest smiles! And I have it on good authority that several school children started making a Pink Tutu Posse of their own, spreading the word, the smiles, and, dare I say, a little bit of glitter!
Well, darlings, this is just a taste of my adventures in Rome this week. I am off now to explore even more hidden gems of the Eternal City. I promise you, this is just the beginning! I have more pink tulle fun in store, and even more fabulous photos! I have a feeling the pink tutu will sweep the cobblestone streets of Rome by the time my time here is over! I simply cannot wait for you to hear all about it next Wednesday!
See you then, my lovelies,
Emma
