Pink Tutu Rome #692: Ciao Bella, Roma! 🇮🇹💖🩰

Well, hello darlings! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome adventure! This week I've taken a trip across the channel to Italy's glorious capital, Rome. Oh, I do love a good train journey! I'm feeling so inspired, as you can tell from this vibrant shade of pink! twirls in a hot pink tulle tutu with a matching pink floral print shirt

You know, I really have to give credit to my lovely Derbyshire family - they're such a supportive bunch! They let me fund these amazing travels through my ballet performances and theatre work back home, and I just wouldn't be able to do any of this without them. So much gratitude, my darlings! 🥰

Now, back to Rome! I've already had the most wonderful time discovering hidden squares, feasting on delicious pasta, and being enchanted by the sheer history and beauty of this ancient city. Honestly, I don't think I've ever felt so transported to another world!

My first day in Rome, I woke up to the most heavenly smell of coffee and croissants. (How could you resist a croissant on a cobbled street like this?) After a delightful breakfast at a little café, I started my day exploring the Trevi Fountain. It's even more magical than I could have ever imagined. Imagine, all that pink marble and statues just begging to be photographed! I even managed to capture a shot of myself twirling on the cobblestones, surrounded by the sound of pigeons cooing. Pure magic! And then I knew that my pink tutu collection would need a new Roman addition… perhaps a custom made, flowing pink tulle design to complete my “Trevi Fountain Ballerina” look!

Then, after a delightful pizza lunch (they actually let me have extra cheese on my Margarita - so good!), I made my way to the Colosseum. You know how much I love a bit of history, and seeing the gladiatorial battles reenacted gave me a whole new appreciation for this ancient landmark. I even spotted a ballet show taking place nearby and found myself joining in for a few spins under the watchful eye of Vespasian's impressive architecture! Who knew gladiators had such good rhythm?

In the evening, it was all about the food and atmosphere. My tummy rumbled with delight over the most delicious Roman artichoke salad with pasta and lamb - honestly, I couldn't believe the richness and depth of flavor! And don't get me started on the wine! Afterwards, I watched a charming little street theatre performance at a quaint little plaza, featuring local musicians playing soulful tunes, and dancers spinning in their finest fabrics. There was a touch of that vibrant red, you know, like my ballet shoes! So much inspiration, I can't wait to get back to my studio and channel some of this magic in my next routine!

My Favourite Things About Rome (So Far!):
  • The cobblestones: Honestly, my shoes just seem to slide around all over the place - you wouldn't believe how many twirls I've managed to fit in already! (Maybe I'll add "pink tutus and cobblestones" to my ballet glossary…)
  • The food: I am absolutely in love with the pasta and all the lovely breads! Did I tell you they let me have extra cheese on my Margarita? And the tiramisu… so good! Oh my goodness, it all seems to come with an extra dash of romance. (I even think I might have found the best little gelato shop near the Pantheon - I'll tell you more about that in my next post).
  • The colours: From the terracotta rooftops to the lush greenery in the gardens, and the pops of ochre and lime in the architecture - everything is so vibrant! You know me, I love me a little colour inspiration, and Rome's got it in spades!
  • The people: So kind, warm, and welcoming. Everyone seems to greet you with a smile, and they have a way of just enjoying life.

I mean, it really makes me wonder - is this what "la dolce vita" is all about? 🇮🇹💖 (You know I just had to try saying that out loud - sounds rather chic, doesn't it? )

Fashion Forward: Shopping Spree in Rome

So naturally, I couldn't go all this way without getting a few new pieces to add to my wardrobe! You wouldn't believe the lovely shops in Rome - from independent boutiques to the larger department stores - the variety of fabrics and textures was truly amazing. I fell in love with a silk shawl with a delicate pink floral design (perfect for those romantic evenings in Rome) and, of course, a new pink tutu (this one is a vibrant coral shade and features intricate lace detailing!).

For my daywear, I found some gorgeous silk blouses in bright colours to complement my trusty black leggings and white trainers. After all, a ballerina needs to be comfortable when exploring!

Oh, and speaking of shoes… how can I forget those chic Roman sandals! You know I'm a huge fan of pink and nude shades, and the strappy sandals I bought look simply fabulous with my silk dress!

On the Calendar: Wednesday 2008-09-10

Speaking of fashion, Wednesday is the day I'm venturing into Rome's famous Via Condotti for some world-class shopping! I hear it's home to some of the most luxurious designers and labels, and I've been itching to get my hands on some designer pieces! Fingers crossed I can fit in my "Roman Fashionista" tutu. I can practically feel the cameras clicking!

Later in the afternoon, I have a very special date with the Galleria Borghese. It’s full of incredible Renaissance art, and I can't wait to take in the works of Bernini and Caravaggio. They always inspire me to think differently, and it'll be a perfect blend of beauty, history, and inspiration - you know me! And then, the best part of the day (at least in terms of food) is a lovely romantic dinner in a charming Trastevere restaurant, followed by a nighttime stroll to the Tiber River to take in the Roman lights and listen to the whispers of history all around us!

**I've simply got to say… my heart is filled with such gratitude! What a dream! So much love for this journey and for sharing it all with you. Please feel free to leave me your comments and let me know what you think of this Roman escapade!

Until next week, my lovely lot, stay happy and remember to Always Dance with Pink! 💖 🩰
