Pink Tutu Rome - Wednesday 2009-03-04: Roman Holiday in Pink!

Ciao, darlings! Welcome back to Pink Tutu Rome, the weekly travel blog where pink tutus conquer the globe one city at a time! This is post number 717, a record-breaking feat considering I only just started blogging last month! I feel like I’m flying through life in a whirlwind of pink tulle and Italian sunshine!

As always, I’m in Rome this week, and what a week it has been! Remember I mentioned my fundraising performance in Derby? It was a roaring success and now, thanks to my ballet bunnies, I'm in the Eternal City with enough money to fuel my insatiable desire for designer shoes and stunning palazzo interiors!

Speaking of which, I started the week with an early morning shopping spree, indulging in the delights of Via Condotti. The window displays at Valentino are positively exquisite - I’m positively obsessed with those fuchsia pumps, you see? Of course, no shopping expedition would be complete without a perfectly pink gelato! I found a tiny little shop down a quiet back street with the most delightful pistachio and rose flavours!

But it wasn't just about fashion! Rome, you know, it has such a captivating history, and yesterday I was treated to an immersive history lesson disguised as a day out! The Colosseum, of course, was magnificent, and the ancient Forum and Palatine Hill were beyond breathtaking! It was all so majestic and historical. The best bit? I even spotted a Roman fountain dressed up with a little pink bow on a nearby tree, it was practically screaming for a pink tutu photo-shoot! I’m all about encouraging the local flora and fauna to get in on the pink fun!

On Saturday evening, I snagged a ticket to an opera performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma - Tosca, wouldn't you know it? The soaring voices and dramatic scenery almost made me forget that I'd already eaten a giant pizza at a nearby trattoria! It’s been a non-stop whirlwind of sightseeing, shopping, and Italian delight, I can't even describe how wonderful it has been to immerse myself in this magical city.

So, what’s on for the rest of the week?

I'm dreaming of visiting the Vatican museums and gazing up at Michelangelo's masterpiece, but first I have a fabulous fashion shoot planned! I’m partnering with a local designer, Gianna, who creates the most amazing silk tutus. We're going to shoot around some of the iconic Roman fountains - it's going to be fabulous! Imagine: The Trevi Fountain, but with a pink tutu! It’s truly a dream come true, darling! I’ll post pictures of course.

Don't forget, darlings, my website www.pink-tutu.com is brimming with pink tutus galore, and plenty of tips and inspiration for your own pink tutu adventures! Let's bring the magic of pink tutus to the world one city at a time, one twirl at a time!

Until next Wednesday,

Stay pink and happy, darlings!

Emma xoxo
