Pink Tutu Rome: Week 718 - A Dance Through the Eternal City!

Ciao Bella!

This Wednesday finds me skipping through the cobblestone streets of Rome, Italy, my trusty pink tutu billowing in the warm Roman breeze. It's the kind of day that makes you want to twirl, and let me tell you, this pink-loving ballerina has been doing plenty of twirling! This is my third trip to Rome, and every time I fall more in love with this magnificent city. It’s full of history, culture, delicious food, and even more delightful surprises around every corner. I just love how effortlessly chic and charming Romans are – I swear they're always effortlessly pulling off a cool Parisian-meets-Romanian vibe, it's utterly inspiring!

For this adventure, I’ve traded my pointe shoes for comfy walking boots. I’ve decided to explore Rome on foot, immersing myself in the magic of its hidden corners. You know how I feel about a good train journey – but there's something magical about just wandering down the narrow lanes and discovering little gems along the way. Plus, with a vibrant pink tutu flowing behind me, I’m sure to make a statement wherever I go!

What's on today? A delightful blend of Roman history and ballet delights:

First, I treated myself to a hearty Roman breakfast: creamy coffee with a croissant and the freshest, juiciest orange juice. What can I say? This girl loves her carbs!

Then, I was off to the Colosseum, a place I’d been yearning to visit again for months. It was so imposing yet utterly magnificent. Standing inside its massive arena, I felt transported back in time to gladiatorial combats, the roar of the crowd ringing in my ears. There were chariot races taking place during the afternoon, so I decided to catch the midday spectacle and soak in the grandeur of it all. It was incredible to see such an ancient historical monument, a testament to Roman ingenuity, so well preserved.

Later in the afternoon, I ventured into the charming Trastevere neighbourhood for a stroll. It was bursting with lively bars and charming boutiques filled with treasures waiting to be discovered. Imagine: my kind of paradise! You can definitely see why it's a favorite with artists and creative souls – and with me too, of course.

This evening, I found myself at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma – an incredibly impressive ballet venue! My fellow tutufarians, you HAVE to see it – and if you're in Rome, a ballet show is an absolute must. Tonight's show, Romeo & Juliet, had a dramatic set design and incredibly beautiful costumes – even for this die-hard pink-tutu devotee! The whole performance was stunning and I was transported away to a world of forbidden love, fierce battles and, of course, graceful ballet. I just had to rush out to capture the beauty of the dancers and my outfit (it felt quite at home with the dramatic mood) for Instagram – it just makes all the efforts of choosing the perfect pink tutu worthwhile, don't you think?

Speaking of pink tutus...

Did you know that the ballet company in Rome is having a pink tutu exhibition in the Palazzo Barberini, which features some of the most extraordinary pink tutu designs you've ever seen? You know I’m dying to visit that and I will absolutely write about it in next week’s post – stay tuned, tutufarians!

Funding my adventures

Just a little note for anyone who has ever wondered how I fund my travels and ballet classes: It’s all about performing! My days are a whirlwind of ballet practice, gigs, performances and lots of shopping for perfect outfits! It’s not easy to make a living from ballet but I am passionate about sharing my love for dance with others and this blog is my way of documenting my life and sharing it with you all! I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunities I have and it definitely all pays off when I’m enjoying a steaming cup of cappuccino with the sun on my face in Rome!

And remember: Always strive to embrace your inner ballerina and let your pink tutu take you wherever you want to go. You can do anything with a pink tutu and a dash of confidence – I truly believe that!

I’m off now to indulge in a little late-night pasta, just like they do in Rome. I promise, more adventures will follow in my next week’s blog – keep your tutus twirling!

**Much love,

Emma x**
