Pink Tutu Rome: Post #720 - Roman Holiday (with a Tutu, Naturally!)

Ciao bella! It's your girl, Emma, reporting live from the Eternal City itself, Rome!

Week #1 in the heart of Italy has been a whirlwind of cobblestones, pasta, and…pink, naturally! This city has stolen my heart already with its stunning architecture, delicious smells wafting from every corner, and the infectious energy buzzing in its streets.

I arrived on Sunday, the perfect day to adjust to the time change and the general sense of Mediterranean vibrancy.

First things first: The train journey! Now, there's nothing I love more than hopping on a train, clutching a paperback (this week it's 'The Italian Job,' aptly chosen!), with the anticipation of new adventures tingling in my toes.

The Eurostar from Derbyshire was surprisingly smooth, and the view of the French countryside rushing by was just gorgeous. A pink-tutu-wearing ballerina can't help but feel inspired by rolling hills and whispering wheat fields – it's pure artistry in nature, you know?

Arriving in Rome… with a Twist!

Walking out of Termini station and onto the streets of Rome, it felt like stepping onto a movie set. Everything, from the sun-baked cobblestones to the vibrantly coloured buildings, was just as I imagined. And what did I see first? A street vendor selling the most stunning pink floral scarves! I snagged one – a little bit of Roma magic to add to my outfit, wouldn't you say?

Hotel Time!

My home for the week is a charming little boutique hotel near the Pantheon, and guess what? They let me wear my tutu in the lobby! They had a beautiful grand piano there, too, which of course, inspired an impromptu impromptu waltz in my favourite pink tulle masterpiece. The hotel staff was so sweet and gave me an extra helping of espresso (a much-needed caffeine boost!) - it felt like a scene straight out of a ballet film!

Roman Delights!

Day one in Rome was all about exploration and embracing the Italian lifestyle. I wandered through the Roman Forum and marvelled at the ruins, picturing the Romans in their togas (I could picture a fabulous pink tutu for an empress!), then made my way to the Trevi Fountain. Tossing a coin into the water for good luck (and maybe a second scoop of gelato!) and imagining the fountains dancing in a magical water ballet.

The Colosseum was another jaw-dropping sight – it's amazing to think how many gladiatorial battles took place in that arena! I could just see it: Roman soldiers charging out in togas, then bam! A ballerina takes centre stage, pirouetting in her pink tutu amidst the cheers of the crowd. Who needs gladiators when you've got graceful leaps and elegant pirouettes, eh?

Pink in the City

Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without shopping for some new pieces for my wardrobe. My latest ballet performance went down a storm, and I've got a good chunk of travel funds thanks to it. Let’s just say, there were several designer boutiques along Via Condotti, where I found a blush-toned silk scarf (perfect for twirling!), a little pair of pink ballerina flats, and the most incredible pink floral patterned dress! Now that's what I call pink power!

Roman Holiday Romance

But Rome wasn't all about pink. On Monday, I visited the Vatican, which was truly a spiritual experience. The grandeur of St. Peter’s Basilica is simply awe-inspiring! As I stood there, gazing at the intricate art and magnificent architecture, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with emotion. The energy in the Vatican is unlike anything I've ever felt before – a beautiful combination of history, art, and faith.

It’s amazing how every city tells its own story, and I’m starting to love this city already. So, as I finish writing this blog post in my charming hotel room, listening to the gentle sound of the street musicians serenading passersby (can you imagine, playing the violin in a pink tutu? Absolutely divine!), I can’t wait for the next exciting adventure.

And of course, don't forget to keep an eye out on www.pink-tutu.com for next week's post, where I'll be sharing more about the stunning city of Rome.

Until next time, stay twirling and spread the pink tutu love!

P.S.

This Wednesday's Highlight:

This Wednesday, March 25th, I'm going to experience the ultimate ballet spectacle: La Scala! I’m already bubbling over with excitement just thinking about it. The Teatro alla Scala, which dates back to 1778, has such an iconic history and reputation!

I’m going to see “The Nutcracker” - I’m a huge fan of this classic story - and with a bit of luck, I'll get a peek at some of those gorgeous pink tutus up close. You know, for inspiration!

And as an extra little treat, after the show, I’m going to have dinner at a traditional Italian restaurant near the opera house. Can you imagine? La Scala, ballet, then authentic Italian food - pure pink-tutu-wearing bliss!

So, be sure to check back next Wednesday for all the glamorous details from my La Scala adventure. See you then!

Stay fabulous, babes!
