Pink Tutu Rome #733: Under the Roman Sun in a Pink Tutu
Ciao Bella!
It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome post! I'm back in the Eternal City, a place that always feels like stepping into a glamorous film set. This time, I’ve traded the crisp Derbyshire air for the sweltering Roman sun, and let me tell you, it's absolutely glorious!
This week, I’m bringing you a whirlwind tour of my Roman adventures, starting with my grand arrival at Termini Station. I know what you’re thinking: a pink tutu on a train? It was a scene worthy of a Fellini film! I mean, what's better than travelling through Italy by train in a flurry of tulle? Honestly, it felt like I was in one of those iconic Italian films from the '50s, but with a dash of whimsical ballet thrown in!
Rome: Where Tutus Come Alive!
I always feel so alive when I'm in Rome, especially when my pink tutu is fluttering in the warm Italian air! My adventures have already taken me to some fantastic spots. This city is a playground for ballet enthusiasts like myself, filled with incredible historical sites that whisper of grand performances, fashion that sparks inspiration, and gelato that makes you twirl.
This week, I explored some hidden gems like the Teatro Argentina. Stepping inside was like being transported to a different era, imagining grand opera singers captivating audiences, and dancers pirouetting across the stage. The energy was electric, making me dream of someday taking centre stage here!
Then, it was off to Piazza Navona for a spot of people-watching. I love seeing how fashion trends evolve from one country to the next. I saw the most stunning designs on some of the Roman ladies – everything from tailored suits to flowy gowns with bold patterns and textures. A vision of style! Of course, no visit to Rome is complete without experiencing the vibrant fashion scene of Via Condotti. It's a paradise for all things chic and stylish. From high-end boutiques showcasing the latest creations to smaller shops offering unique finds, there’s something for everyone. And my fellow pink tutu enthusiasts will be delighted to know that the color pink is making a bold comeback, especially in this city of romance.
The Food is Art, the Dance is Life!
But Rome isn’t just about historical sites and glamorous fashion, it's also about food! Let’s just say I've been indulging in the most delicious pasta dishes, from creamy carbonara to decadent tiramisu. Each dish is a work of art on a plate! The food scene here inspires my love for ballet, because it’s all about the beautiful harmony of flavour, textures and presentation. Just like a well-crafted dance routine, it's a beautiful sensory experience. I mean, who could resist a bowl of fresh pasta bathed in a rich tomato sauce? The colour alone is enough to make you pirouette with joy!
Speaking of dancing, this weekend I'm headed to a special Ballet Gala at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. It's going to be a phenomenal performance filled with talented dancers, elaborate costumes and the most spectacular choreography. I can’t wait! Every ballet performance is an incredible fusion of beauty, elegance, and strength, like a ballet dress swirling with life!
Living in a Pink Tutu Paradise!
But enough about me, tell me about you! What’s your favourite pink item of clothing? Are you planning a trip to Rome? And tell me about your favourite ballet performance, or dance experience, I’d love to hear it!
Until next Wednesday, keep dancing, keep twirling, and most importantly, keep living in your very own pink tutu paradise!
Yours always,
Emma x

P.S. What a wonderful week it's been! Today, June 24th, has a lot to offer: It’s the Feast Day of Saint John the Baptist and, The Feast of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist according to the liturgical calendar. There's also the anniversary of the birth of Antonin Artaud (1896). This French theatre practitioner is fascinating, so I may write more about his work in a future post!
