Buongiorno, my darlings! This week, your favourite tutu-wearing traveller has landed in the beautiful, historic, and utterly delicious city of Rome! This Wednesday's post comes to you live from the Eternal City, and I am already absolutely smitten with the romance, the history, and the fabulous fashion of this Italian gem.
So, as many of you know, I am a total train buff. So my journey here was absolutely divine. The journey from Derbyshire took just over 12 hours on the Eurostar, but honestly, the time just melted away with the breathtaking views. There's something about gliding through the countryside, watching the world go by, that always fills me with a sense of peace and adventure.
A Pink Tutu In Rome: A Stylish Saga
Of course, my wardrobe was packed with the ultimate travelling companions: plenty of my favourite pink tutus (I think I might have packed at least four – you can never be too prepared!), my trusty trusty ballet flats, and a selection of colourful cardigans for the cooler evenings. I also couldn’t resist adding a few delicate gold necklaces to bring a little extra sparkle to my outfits! It wouldn’t be a true Pink Tutu Rome adventure without a touch of girly flair, would it?
The Coliseum: A Majestic Masterpiece
Now, Rome is a city of wonders, but one thing you absolutely have to see is the Colosseum. Stepping back in time, imagine gladiators battling under the Roman sun, the roar of the crowd echoing through the massive amphitheatre – it was an incredible experience. The history just breathes in this place, and I felt a tiny pang of nostalgia, like I had stepped back into ancient times. But don't worry, my darling tutu survived the journey through time! It was the perfect outfit for strolling through this magnificent monument.
A Feast For The Senses: Italian Delights
No trip to Italy would be complete without sampling the exquisite culinary delights. From perfectly roasted pizzas and creamy pastas to fresh, juicy gelato – my taste buds are doing a happy dance. I couldn't resist indulging in a cappuccino and a flaky croissant this morning in a cute little cafe. It’s all just so delicious! It's not just the food; the energy of the city is infectious. Everyone seems to be living life at a slower pace here, savouring each bite and each moment. I've learned that gelato truly is the best way to end a long day of sightseeing.
A Symphony of Culture: Art & Opera
Today's adventure brought me to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. I found out that today was the day they were having a rehearsal of Tosca! Oh, it was incredible! You know I have a particular weakness for all things dramatic! Seeing how the singers, the orchestra, and the stage crew come together to create such an immersive and powerful experience was absolutely magical! The drama and the emotion, it truly took me away. The costumes were particularly impressive - so much elegance and movement.
Finding Inspiration Everywhere
What I love about Rome is that there's beauty and inspiration everywhere you look. Whether it’s the breathtaking architecture, the vibrant street art, or the elegant fashions, it’s all so effortlessly stylish and vibrant. You know I'm a bit obsessed with finding a pink tutu in every city, and let me tell you, I think I found it! There was this incredible little vintage shop in the heart of the city where I found a beautiful silk pink tutu, perfectly frayed and a little bit wild. Oh, my darling, you just couldn't find a better look for a day of exploring Rome!
Making New Memories in the Eternal City
And as the sun sets on another incredible day in Rome, I can’t help but feel overwhelmed by the beauty and the charm of this city. I’ve been exploring new cafes, delving into ancient ruins, and, of course, enjoying delicious Italian treats. Every corner holds a story, every street a hidden treasure. And who knows what adventures the next week will bring! Perhaps I'll learn some Italian, take a cooking class, or find another perfect pink tutu?
