Pink Tutu Rome: Post #748 – A Day of Romance and Ruins!

Buongiorno bella! It’s Wednesday again, which means it’s time for another dose of pink tutu goodness straight from the heart of Rome! This week, I’m sharing all about a whirlwind day filled with romance, ruins, and of course, the most gorgeous pink tutu outfits (I just can’t help myself!).

This trip to Italy has been an absolute dream – the sunshine, the gelato, the beautiful architecture, and the endless shopping! It’s no wonder that the Romans called this city the Eternal City, it’s truly captivating. And I'm determined to soak up every bit of it!

Speaking of soaking up, I decided to make the most of the glorious sunshine today with a little exploration of the Roman Forum. You guys, it's actually a lot more epic than I imagined! It's fascinating to see the ruins of this once-thriving city - and I just loved feeling that history all around me. Of course, I had to do it in style, which meant rocking a pale pink tutu, a floaty floral top, and a pair of my favourite gladiator sandals. It just screams "ancient Rome with a modern twist," don't you think?

Now, I can't mention the Roman Forum without a mention of the Colosseum. Oh my gosh, it's huge! And after my whirlwind visit to the Forum, I had to head over to see it in person. It was pretty impressive to imagine gladiators battling it out right there in that arena, all those years ago! After I had finished admiring it from all angles, I took a trip to the gelato shop around the corner for a post-sightseeing ice cream – there’s nothing better on a sunny afternoon.

For this evening, I’d snagged tickets to a wonderful show at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. As much as I love to travel and explore, nothing beats an evening of elegant performances. And in this city, ballet truly shines! Today's programme was "Giselle", and it was beautiful – such an elegant and romantic story. It was easy to get caught up in the emotion of the performance – even my fellow audience members had a few tears in their eyes. The costumes, the music, the dancers, everything was utterly captivating. I always feel like the most magical part of attending ballet is feeling the pure talent on the stage right in front of you – it truly inspires me to keep on twirling.

So, my dearest readers, what have I learned about Rome in this glorious week of travels?

  • This city is truly the heart of Roman history and architecture, with ruins and art treasures at every turn! I’m already making plans to return to see even more, but I might leave a tutu or two behind for souvenirs… you know, for the Roman ballet lovers.
  • Gelato is seriously life-changing! Every day, new flavours are created – today, it was a divine combination of strawberry and mascarpone – divine. It was so yummy.
  • The people are so kind and welcoming! Not just in tourist spots, but all across the city – always happy to help, even when I'm fumbling through my terrible Italian.

So there you have it, my darlings! Another day in pink tutu paradise! Let me know your thoughts in the comments, and keep your eyes peeled for my next blog post, all about the amazing street food scene in Rome! And as always, stay glamorous!

Yours truly,
