Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! - #759

Wednesday, 23rd December 2009

Hello my darling darlings,

It's me, Emma, and guess what? I'm in Rome! This amazing city has stolen my heart already, and it's only been a few short hours! The cobbled streets, the magnificent buildings, the buzzing atmosphere โ€“ it's just divine!

As you know, I'm a firm believer that every destination calls for a certain outfit, and for Rome, the only answer was a bright pink, feather-trimmed tutu, paired with my trusty knee-high boots. It's all about embracing the glamour, don't you think?

But let's rewind a little...

I took the Eurostar from London, as usual. It's such a dreamy way to travel! I spent most of the journey catching up on my "Pink Tutu" reading list, a collection of fashion blogs and ballerina biographies, and of course, I was sketching out my plans for Rome! I'd already spotted a vintage store online that boasted a delightful collection of fifties dresses and a magnificent selection of brooches โ€“ perfect for adding that touch of vintage flair to my Rome outfits!

Arriving in the bustling Roma Termini station, I felt that familiar sense of anticipation that only comes with landing in a new, exciting city. The air was filled with the scent of roasted coffee and the sounds of excited chatter in a language that seemed to roll off the tongue with a joyous lilt.

Stepping onto the platform, I was instantly struck by the incredible views! The Colosseum, bathed in the afternoon sun, looked magnificent โ€“ I just couldn't wait to explore it!

Our hotel was in the heart of the city, tucked away on a quaint street lined with flowering balconies. As I threw open the window of our charming room, the familiar smell of bread baking wafted up, mingled with the scent of flowers. My heart skipped a beat - this was it, Rome in all its glory!

Tonight was all about embracing the magical side of this ancient city, so naturally, I opted for my most enchanting tutu: a flowing, tiered creation with delicate pink feathers cascading down the skirt. It paired beautifully with a sequined bolero and my favourite pair of gold pumps โ€“ a touch of elegant sparkle that truly embodied the spirit of this magical city.

Dinner was at a charming little trattoria, just around the corner. I dined on a pasta dish that was pure perfection - I still dream of those heavenly creamy flavours! After dinner, we took a stroll through the ancient streets, marvelling at the crumbling monuments lit by the soft glow of streetlamps. The city felt so alive, so full of history and enchantment.

Tomorrow, a day of exploration awaits! I'm already dreaming of visiting the Pantheon, the Trevi Fountain, and the Colosseum, and of course, a visit to the ballet boutique for some authentic Roman shoes would be the perfect addition to my pink tutu adventures!

Oh, and the best news? Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, which means that we'll be enjoying a beautiful Christmas market and all the delights of this wonderful city's holiday traditions. Can't wait to share the experience with you all!

Until next week, darling darlings, and don't forget to wear your pink tutus!

**With love, from the heart of Rome,

Emma**
