Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 30th December 2009 - Post 760

Ciao bella! It's Emma here, ready to whisk you away to the enchanting streets of Rome. I've got a pink tutu for every occasion (even for wandering around the Colosseum, just you wait!), and I can't wait to share my Italian adventures with you all. It’s been a whirlwind of pasta, piazzas, and perfectly-timed ballet shows - I'm already hooked on the Italian way of life.

Rome was my latest stop on my whirlwind European tour. You know me - I'm all about ballet and its magical, swirling, tutu-filled world, so finding ballet shows while I travel is key. I managed to squeeze in a beautiful performance at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma just the other day, and let me tell you, the costumes were divine! Seriously, it was like the world’s most glamorous pink tutu-filled dream, right down to the sparkling tiaras!

Rome’s a perfect blend of ancient history and modern style, and I have to confess, it’s become my new shopping haven! Forget the Coliseum, darling, the shopping is where I've spent most of my time (shhh, don't tell my parents!). From Valentino's dazzling designs to the cute boutiques overflowing with the most exquisite, handcrafted jewels and handmade bags, there's something to make every girl’s heart sing. And the shoes? My dear, they could rival the most prestigious ballet studios in Paris, only with a whole lot more Italian pizzazz.

Speaking of which, the pizza here is… divine! I’ve never tasted anything like it. The crust is crisp, the toppings are generous and flavorful, and every mouthful feels like a symphony for the taste buds. My favourite has been this amazing thin-crust creation with artichokes, mushrooms, and a generous sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. Oh, and the gelato - absolutely divine. Don’t even get me started. I think I've sampled enough flavors to fill a whole ballet show's worth of scenes!

I can't help but feel a bit of "Emma in the spotlight" energy with my pink tutus attracting all the right attention here. This morning, I even had a friendly chat with a local lady while enjoying my cappuccino (oh, the Italians and their perfect coffee!), who commented on my tulle twirling through the cobbled streets. It's so nice to see the joy my tutus bring to people's faces, making the world a slightly more colorful and sparkly place, one pirouette at a time!

Rome’s Hidden Gems and Secret Spots

The Colosseum is, of course, stunningly majestic. But while I adore the historical sites, I've found some other little gems along the way:

  • The Spanish Steps: Imagine my delight when I stumbled upon a charming little bakery selling the most delicious, handcrafted pastries - they were perfectly delicate, just like a ballerina's foot! It’s all about the detail, my dear.

  • Borghese Gallery: Such a beautifully curated space - they had some truly spectacular art, and the whole place oozed style. I swear, my tutus almost did a little curtsy!

  • Testaccio Market: This bustling food market has to be my favourite place to visit in Rome! So many flavours, sights, and scents. Plus, the most beautiful handmade textiles, which just had to find their way into my luggage! And don't get me started on the pasta – my stomach had a literal dance party!

My Favourite Roman Moment So Far

I couldn’t help but make my way to the iconic Trevi Fountain – the ultimate location to twirl! The air was cool and crisp, and I had to take a moment to spin, imagine myself on stage, the moonlight shimmering off my pink tutu… just me, the fountain, and a sense of wonder, all under a breathtaking Roman sky. This city has a real romantic vibe. I wouldn't be surprised if a love story blossomed from within this majestic, magical city.

Fashion Finds and Ballerina Style

Now, my lovelies, it wouldn't be a "Pink Tutu" blog post without a little fashion chat.

I've found some gorgeous dresses to pair with my tutus – silky fabrics that float like whispers of tulle. It’s like the city itself inspires a dance with every flowing silhouette and graceful detail. I even picked up a few stunning floral headbands to complete the look. A real ballerina must accessorize!

Speaking of ballet, Rome's got a thriving dance scene - and of course, I just had to check out a class or two! So far, my favourite is this lovely studio in Trastevere, nestled among the winding cobblestone alleys, complete with a beautiful window overlooking the enchanting piazza.

Let’s just say my pink tutus definitely got their fair share of spins and plies during my Rome stay, creating a unique "Pink Tutu" ballet-style fusion of elegant Roman style!

Time for an Italian Feast!

Oh, the food. The glorious food. It's already my mission to make sure every single one of you finds yourself lost in Rome’s deliciousness at some point in your life! From perfectly al dente pasta (yes, that's "al dente" to my ballerina friends!), to melt-in-your-mouth meats cooked to perfection, to fresh, flavorful seafood bursting with the tang of the sea… it's just heavenly. I mean, what's more glamorous than eating a truly gourmet pizza while listening to the romantic serenade of a local busker? It's all part of the magic that is Rome.

Final Thoughts: A Love Letter to Rome

I love that feeling of a place inspiring you - it just happens, that magical spark! And here, in Rome, it feels as if every stone and cobbled street whispers tales of ancient history, intertwined with a modern pulse of glamour, passion, and style. You simply can't escape its allure, its breathtaking art, the soul-stirring melodies drifting on the night air… and of course, all those adorable, oh-so-stylish, little boutiques filled with delights just waiting for me! This city is definitely a ballet in itself – every day is a beautiful act with a cast of thousands.

My darlings, thank you for coming on this journey with me! It's been an absolute pleasure sharing the pink-tutu infused enchantment of Rome with you. Be sure to follow me on Pink-Tutu.com for more adventures next week!

P.S.: As my good friend always says: Go big, or go home! (She’s also quite partial to a pink tutu or two!). And I believe I just might be doing a little of both!

With lots of twirling and sparkly wishes, Emma
