Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2010-07-28 - La Dolce Vita, Tutti Frutti & Tutus!

Hello darlings!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome post! This week, I've been absolutely twirling with excitement, exploring the Eternal City and soaking up the incredible energy that radiates from every cobblestone street and sun-drenched square.

This is post number 790 on www.pink-tutu.com, and I'm so grateful to have you all joining me on this fabulous journey. For those of you new here, I'm Emma, a ballerina and lover of all things pink and twirly - think tutus, of course! And as for my travel adventures, well, that's all down to the magical world of ballet! Performing in the most breathtaking venues keeps the travel bug happy and allows me to share my love of all things elegant with you all.

Travel by Train:

I absolutely adore train travel. There's just something so romantic about watching the scenery whiz by as I sip my cappuccino, imagining all the adventures that might be unfolding behind those rolling hills and glittering rivers. This week, I caught the sleek Italian Frecciarossa express from Florence to Rome. It was such a glamorous experience, complete with onboard WiFi, plush leather seats, and a gourmet selection of pastries.

La Dolce Vita:

Speaking of glamour, Rome is just bursting with it! The Colosseum is magnificent, even more awe-inspiring than I ever imagined. It felt like I was stepping right back in time, transported to a world of gladiators and chariots. The energy in this ancient stadium is palpable! I did a quick spin at the top of the steps, feeling the historical resonance vibrate through the floorboards. The Colosseum was undoubtedly a big ballet stage back in its day!

A Spot of Shopping:

Of course, no trip to Rome is complete without a little retail therapy. Iā€™m a bit of a shoe fanatic, and I just had to try on a pair of elegant Roman gladiator sandals. I found them tucked away in a tiny shop just off the Piazza Navona. They are a stunning blend of classic elegance with a hint of bohemian chic - the perfect pair for strolling through the city and soaking up the Roman sunshine!

Roman Tutus:

As you know, I'm a massive proponent of bringing a touch of pink tutu magic to every place I visit. So, this week I found myself strolling through the Trastevere neighbourhood, seeking inspiration for my latest tutu ensemble. And let me tell you, Rome was already filled with such exquisite tutus, both in fashion and design.

I picked up the most fabulous little pink satin top from a stall in the Campo de' Fiori market. I immediately paired it with my trusty pink tulle skirt, feeling every inch the ballerina princess. And of course, the outfit wouldn't be complete without a splash of Italian flavour ā€“ I found a little accessory shop that sold adorable pink tulle flower headbands with miniature little pink miniature ballet slippers!

Cultural Delights:

Rome, a city of incredible history, stunning architecture and amazing people. I am fascinated by this cityā€™s ancient wonders! Today, I visited the Roman Forum, and even stood in the remnants of the Senate building. How incredible to feel the history pulsing through the ground beneath my feet. I couldn't help but feel inspired by all the amazing people I met along the way. Everyone has such a story to tell. They were incredibly friendly, welcoming me with open arms and enthusiastic smiles.

I indulged in the delicious food, relishing a platter of spaghetti carbonara and sipping aromatic espresso at an open-air cafe. As I gazed across the Forum, a lively troupe of street musicians began playing an incredible medley of operatic and classical melodies. A truly remarkable experience that encapsulated the spirit of Rome - where culture and beauty truly intertwine!

An Evening at the Opera:

The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma is legendary and every night I am swept away by the sheer power of the music. This weekā€™s performance was ā€œRigolettoā€. Itā€™s incredible to witness the ballet's incredible ability to move and enthrall audiences!

I was particularly impressed by the final scene - the ballet sequence. The ballerinas performed with such passion and elegance, their bodies expressing every nuance of the tragic love story unfolding on the stage.

Back to the Pink Tutu:

For my final performance in Rome, I am delighted to be performing with the Ballet school of the Teatro dellā€™Opera. This magnificent space offers one of the most perfect environments for ballet, and I've been dreaming about this opportunity ever since I was a little girl. We'll be putting on a spectacular performance for the community of ā€˜Ballet Under the Starsā€™, where we dance under the starry night sky in the beautiful Villa Borghese. I just know this is going to be one of my most memorable performances to date.

Sharing the Pink Tutu Love:

As I end this weekā€™s blog, I'd love to share some inspiring ballet thoughts! My ultimate aim is to get everyone to embrace their inner ballerina and put on a pink tutu - just for fun! If you have ever dreamed of dancing, this is your call to action! I believe we are all capable of expressing ourselves through movement. Dance brings a sparkle to our lives!

The Pink Tutu Promise

The only thing stopping you from experiencing this fantastic dance journey is you. The Pink Tutu Promise is to help you feel empowered by wearing your very own tutu, and showing you that ballet is about self expression and not about the perfect performance. If you ever want a giggle with other ballet-lovers - join us on our Facebook and Instagram communities - it's always a blast to laugh, chat and twirl together.

Until next Wednesday, darlings, keep shining and twirling!

Ciao Bella!
