Pink Tutu Rome #817: La Dolce Vita & a Pink Tutu! 🩰🇮🇹

Ciao bella! It's Emma here, your Pink Tutu princess, landing in Rome with a heart full of excitement and a suitcase brimming with pink (and a few tutus, of course)! This week's post comes to you live from the Eternal City, where the sun is shining, the gelato is calling, and the streets are buzzing with life. I'm embracing all that Rome has to offer, from ancient ruins to delicious cuisine, with my trusty pink tutu by my side!

It’s been a whirlwind of a week, but in the best way possible! I travelled here from Derbyshire by train, a journey I always love – so relaxing and the scenery was incredible, all rolling green hills and quaint villages. My love of travel has been part of me since I was a little girl, daydreaming about the adventures I would one day have. And what better way to celebrate my love of the world than by spinning into its embrace with a pink tutu on!

Today is Wednesday, and for you, my dear Pink Tutu readers, it's my weekly Roman adventure! Rome is a city bursting with history and beauty, with cobblestone streets, grand basilicas, and fountains that make you wish you had a tutu to twirl around them! It’s truly like stepping back in time, yet with a very modern and energetic heartbeat. And as I flit through these enchanting streets, I’m on a mission to see if I can spread a bit of my pink tutu magic throughout the city. I even managed to grab a lovely, frilly pink one for my trip, which has proven quite the talking point at a few cafes and a charming boutique, with even the waiter giving a little nod of approval as I floated past.

Rome, of course, is famous for its delicious food! It’s all pasta and pizza galore - I'm in heaven! My current favourite haunt is a charming little trattoria in Trastevere – the food is absolutely divine, the wine flows freely, and there's always someone serenading with a guitar. Who needs a theatre when you have that sort of entertainment!

I've had a little whirlwind of adventures these last few days: I’ve been awed by the Colosseum, marvelling at its immense scale, imagining the gladiatorial contests of ancient Rome, with just a sprinkle of glitter in the mix! A sprinkle of glitter, you ask? Well, that’s me trying to imagine the reaction to a troupe of ballerinas performing in the arena - just a thought. Then I saw the Trevi Fountain - breathtaking, truly, especially when the sun was hitting the water, and I couldn't help myself – I twirled, a little spin for good luck, just a slight sway with the pink tutu, nothing dramatic you understand.

Speaking of dramatic, last night, I enjoyed a magnificent opera performance! You have to experience opera in Italy, it's truly something special, the costumes, the singers, the whole theatre scene, I absolutely loved it. I tried not to go completely over-the-top with the pink theme in my outfit. It wasn’t about the pink tutu in this case - this was opera night! So I went for a fabulous rose-gold gown with just a little hint of pink tulle and sequins.

Shopping in Rome is like a dream come true! From quirky independent boutiques to grand designer names, Rome is a paradise for fashionistas like me. My little heart couldn’t take it when I walked past the Chanel store – oh, to imagine the tutu outfits one could make with their couture creations. However, I did pick up some beautiful hand-stitched beaded accessories from a charming little shop tucked away in Trastevere - they’re just perfect for adding a touch of glamour to my pink tutu ensembles.

Today, I'm venturing into the Borghese Gallery, a place overflowing with exquisite art and sculptures, with the perfect amount of pink on the walls. They should really have a few ballet pieces on show - just saying! Maybe they can bring the National Gallery's Turner’s ballet works on display, that would be the dream!

After the gallery, it’s off to Piazza Navona, where the energy is infectious, artists, performers, tourists, locals – such a magical place, where the art in the piazza literally bleeds into your very soul. That’s what Rome is like.

Rome has captured my heart and my spirit! The warmth of the people, the beauty of the city, the delicious food, and even the little stray cats I've befriended - they all create an air of magic that I simply can’t get enough of. Even without my trusty tutu, Rome would be unforgettable but this lovely pink outfit has really taken my Rome trip to a whole other level. I'll leave you now, but before I do, remember, a pink tutu isn't just an outfit – it's a way of life. A reminder to embrace life, embrace colour, embrace joy, and never be afraid to spin!

Don't forget to check in next Wednesday for another Pink Tutu adventure! Ciao!

Love,

Emma 🩰💖
