Pink Tutu Rome #831: Ciao Bella! A Whirlwind of Fashion, Food and, of course, Tutus!

Well, hello darlings! Emma here, ready to transport you to the Eternal City - Rome! It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for my weekly Roman adventure, and this week, oh this week, is a total dream come true. I mean, Rome, tutus, fabulous food – what’s not to love?!

I arrived last night by train – yes, darling, trains are the most glamorous way to travel (even if they do make you smell faintly of lukewarm tea and old biscuits). A train journey gives you a chance to enjoy the scenery and daydream – usually about shoes!

So, back to my little Roman getaway… My heart is fluttering just thinking about what this week will bring – from exploring the ancient wonders of the Colosseum to wandering through cobbled streets, shopping for the most gorgeous vintage pieces, and of course, the delicious Italian cuisine – a feast for both the eyes and the tummy!

But this trip is all about a very special show – "Giselle." Oh, how I’ve been looking forward to seeing this timeless classic brought to life! The exquisite artistry and emotional depth of this ballet, combined with the passionate choreography, makes it the perfect choice for a night at the Teatro dell’Opera. There's something truly magical about watching talented dancers take you on a journey of love, loss, and redemption. It’s no wonder "Giselle" has been a favourite for generations of ballet enthusiasts, including yours truly, and I just know this performance will be something very special.

The city is vibrant, alive with its own unique rhythm and, of course, I've been channeling a touch of Roman glam in my latest pink tutu! This one is a sheer delight, a delicate cloud of baby pink, adorned with exquisite hand-stitched rosebuds. It really feels right here, a dash of whimsy against the backdrop of ancient history.

Yesterday I was swept away by the glorious Piazza Navona! The atmosphere is intoxicating; street performers, artists displaying their works, the sweet aroma of freshly brewed espresso and gelato…. The fountain at the centre, the Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi, with its mythical figures, reminded me of the enchanting world of ballet! You know I love those theatrical elements – all the magic, mystery and romance!

As a ballerina on the go, my travels are financed by performances. Luckily, my diary is filling up fast, with a charity performance in Derby, followed by an amazing opportunity in London for a prestigious dance competition. But Rome is where my heart truly resides for the moment!

This evening, after indulging in the most delicious pasta carbonara – I swear, it melted in my mouth – I'm planning on visiting the Pantheon, that awe-inspiring temple to the gods, and I can't wait to see it bathed in the soft light of sunset. Imagine the photo opportunities, my pink tutu floating against the majestic dome... it’s going to be epic!

Later, it’s a little post-ballet shopping for a few new treasures. I’ve got my eye on some silky scarves and those irresistible gladiator sandals – so glamorous, but incredibly comfy! It’s a bit of a cliche, but you truly can wear a pair of these sandals with practically everything, and that makes a fashion girl very happy indeed!

But enough about me – let's talk about you, darling. I want to hear your Roman tales. Are you planning a trip to Italy? Have you been here before? Let’s have a chat on the website about all things fashion, food, and the amazing magic of Rome!

Until next Wednesday, ciao for now!

With all my love and sparkles,

Emma x

P.S. Did you know May 11th is a special day? It's the birthday of none other than Audrey Hepburn, one of the most iconic ballet and fashion icons ever! That’s an amazing reason to have a spot of tea, a chocolate cupcake (pink, of course!), and dream about those gorgeous ballet scenes from “Funny Face”. You’ve got to see it, darling! Just let me know and I'll give you some ideas on what to watch.
