Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday, 2012-01-18 - #867

Ciao Bella!

It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballerina, and I'm absolutely thrilled to be bringing you another fabulous Wednesday from Rome! This gorgeous city has completely stolen my heart with its cobblestone streets, charming cafes, and the sheer amount of breathtaking history around every corner.

From Derbyshire to Rome by Train:

As usual, I made my way here in style – the Orient Express, a romantic overnight train journey through Europe, always sets the scene perfectly for a new adventure. And believe me, the thrill of stepping onto Italian soil after such a glamorous trip is absolutely magical.

The Eternal City: A Ballerina's Paradise

My week in Rome has been packed with a mix of beautiful ballet performances, incredible sights, and of course, plenty of shopping! It's the perfect blend of culture, fashion, and history that I adore.

Opening Night Bliss at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma

The main event of the week, as you all know, is always a ballet show! This week I was so fortunate to catch the opening night of the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma's production of "Swan Lake". Oh my goodness! I was mesmerized! The set designs, the costumes, the incredibly talented dancers – it was everything a ballet lover like me could dream of. I nearly burst with excitement at the first soaring leaps! It truly felt like a magical fairytale come to life, right there before my very eyes.

The Fashion Fiesta Continues

As always, a trip wouldn't be complete without some retail therapy! I couldn't resist indulging in a shopping spree along Via Condotti, home to all the top fashion houses. I snagged a pair of stunning red heels and a delicate gold chain to wear for the "Swan Lake" performance – feeling extra fabulous.

Tutu in the Colosseum: A Touch of Pink in History

Who knew the Colosseum could be so stunningly beautiful? The grandeur of this ancient Roman arena just blew me away! I took so many pictures, of course – my pink tutu had to feature prominently against the backdrop of such monumental history! The sight of it standing proud against the ancient stone really did add a touch of whimsy to the serious setting.

A Visit to the Vatican: Divine and Inspiring

Let's be honest, the Vatican was something else. A whole city within a city – full of breathtaking artwork, architecture, and historical significance. I wandered through St Peter's Square, taking in the sheer magnitude of the Basilica, and the detail of the intricate mosaic work left me speechless. There’s something incredibly inspiring about visiting such holy and sacred places. I even took a spin with my tutu in the piazza, just because – It felt magical and surreal, surrounded by such a historic landscape.

Food, Glorious Food: An Italian Gastronomic Journey

Of course, no trip to Italy would be complete without indulging in the delicious cuisine! I've been enjoying plates piled high with creamy pasta, mouthwatering pizzas, and all sorts of flavourful, aromatic Italian delights. Every meal is a taste sensation – and honestly, I think I might even be learning to speak Italian faster thanks to the delicious language of food!

My Inspiration for Your Wardrobe: Ballet & Chic

So many of you have asked me about the outfits I wear, especially in these breathtaking settings! Of course, the tutu is the star of the show – it adds that extra touch of fun and glamour to any situation, even against the most ancient of Roman backgrounds.

Here’s my tip for you this week, lovely ladies: Think beyond the ballet studio! Incorporate a touch of ballet flair into your everyday wardrobe. A pink tutu could easily work as a fabulous skirt, just add some tights, boots, and a cozy sweater! You could also add a delicate ballerina inspired top to your outfit – you can really rock a ballerina style wherever you are. It’s a fun way to stand out from the crowd and let your personality shine through.

Pink Tutu Plans for the Week Ahead

As always, I've got exciting plans lined up for next week. We'll be hitting up a local dance class to keep my ballerina muscles in tip-top shape, and I can’t wait to see what new places and treats I’ll discover in the charming city of Rome.

Remember, my dearest pink tutu followers, life is an adventure – so embrace it with style, a sprinkle of whimsy, and a touch of ballet flair. And who knows? Maybe one day we'll even have a whole pink tutu parade around the Colosseum! Now that's a dream worth dancing for.

Until next week, keep your tutus twirling!

Love,

Emma
