Post 879 - Roman Holiday
Oh my darlings, I'm so excited to be in the Eternal City! Rome! My adventures in Italy kicked off yesterday with a chuffing magnificent train ride from beautiful Firenze (Florence) down to this glorious metropolis. The Italian landscape whizzed past my window - rolling hills, sun-drenched olive groves, and quaint, terracotta-roofed towns. Every so often, a grand Roman basilica or ancient aqueduct would pop up like a time-travelling wonder. Honestly, the entire trip was just dreamy, especially in my darling pink tutu. My fellow passengers kept looking at me like I was the eighth wonder of the world. No complaints here!
You see, my loves, I believe there's a tutu for everyone. I’m all about encouraging everyone to embrace their inner ballerina, and this glorious, twirly garment is just the perfect way to do that. I get so much joy when people say they feel like a princess when they're wearing a tutu, or when their face just lights up when they catch a glimpse of my vibrant pink confection!
This trip, as you may know, is all about indulging in the wonderful world of theatre, art, fashion, and, of course, food! This week's schedule is a jam-packed whirlwind of glorious activities that will have even the most ardent ballerina, fashionista, or gourmand buzzing with delight.
Today's adventures...
So, you know how much I love ballet shows, right? Well, my darling, guess what? I stumbled upon this delightful little jewel of a theatre tucked away in the heart of Rome. Turns out it's the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! Tonight, they're putting on a breathtaking production of Giselle. Can you imagine the sheer magic and wonder I’m about to experience? The music, the costumes, the breathtaking artistry... It will be sheer balletic bliss! My darling pink tutu is practically doing a pirouette of excitement just thinking about it!
But before we head to the opera, we must indulge in a spot of lunch! And in true Italian fashion, that means pasta, of course! We're going to a cute little restaurant off a hidden backstreet with a reputation for its simple yet heavenly handmade pasta. My tummy is practically doing somersaults in anticipation of a dish of gnocchi smothered in a cheesy pesto sauce. Oh, and did I mention I'll be topping off this perfect lunch with a glass of the most beautiful Italian white wine you’ve ever seen? It’s got the same light pink hue as my tutu!
And to truly enjoy Rome, we need a proper sightseeing session! After lunch, I’m going to head to the iconic Colosseum, an ancient wonder that will literally take you back in time. Picture the sheer size, the brutal history, and the breathtaking architecture of this extraordinary piece of Roman heritage! Then we’re onto the Forum – it’s another of these awe-inspiring ancient sites that make my history geek heart sing. It will be like stepping right onto the streets of Ancient Rome!
This evening will be all about immersing myself in the world of the ballet! And not just the stage – I've heard there are so many gorgeous ballet stores and workshops scattered around the city. Imagine my delight at finding the perfect pink ballet shoes to complement my oh-so-chic tutu!
A sneak peek into the coming week…
Next week, oh darlings, we're heading to the magnificent Vatican City, home to the breathtaking St. Peter's Basilica and the renowned Vatican Museums! Can you imagine a tutu amongst these incredible works of art? I’m even contemplating picking up a Roman-inspired, glittery, hot-pink tutu while I’m there - perfect for adding a dash of sparkle to this grand architectural wonder!
And after all this cultural goodness, I need to treat myself to a little shopping therapy. Let's talk fashion! Rome is famed for its designer boutiques and charming independent shops – and I will be adding my own personal spin to those iconic Italian designs with a sprinkle of pink tutu magic, naturally! My vision involves finding a breathtaking, cherry-red silk scarf to match my tutu, complete with sparkling jewels that'll shimmer and dance just like me on the dance floor.
Staying on Budget…
I always try my hardest to keep my adventures budget-friendly so I can share this exciting journey with all of you, and this time is no different! So, how do I afford all of this amazingness on a tutu-loving budget? Well, my darlings, the answer lies in my other love - ballet performances! I use the money I earn from performing at local events and special occasions to fund my wanderlust. You know how I love to twirl for the joy of others! Every pirouette and leap is worth it when I can experience the joy of exploring amazing places like Rome.
More than a tutu...
