Pink Tutu Rome: #882 - Ciao Bella!

Well, hello my darling tutus! It's Wednesday again, which means another Roman adventure is unfolding before your very eyes (and hopefully your pink-tinted glasses). I'm so thrilled to be sharing this magical journey with you, from my charming apartment in the heart of Rome to the cobblestone streets bustling with life.

Pink Tutus in the Eternal City

Imagine me, perched on a velvet bench at the foot of the Spanish Steps, tutu billowing in the warm Italian breeze. It's the perfect spot to watch the world go by – tourists from every corner of the globe, street artists displaying their vibrant wares, and, of course, the timeless beauty of the architecture surrounding me.

Now, I wouldn't dare to say I've truly captured Rome in a pink tutu yet (though wouldn't it be fab? Imagine a whole Roman army of tutu-clad soldiers!). It’s been an adjustment to fit this vibrant city into my wardrobe – though honestly, the vibrant reds, golds, and creams of Rome's buildings could definitely work with a dash of pink! But you know me, always aiming for that perfect balance.

My Ballet Pilgrimage: A Ballerina's Dream

I wouldn't be true to myself if I didn't confess that this trip was inspired by ballet, my eternal love! It all started with a visit to the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, the grand, opulent heart of Rome’s opera and ballet scene. Imagine towering chandeliers casting their magical glow over the auditorium, plush velvet seating waiting for eager patrons, and the thrumming anticipation that builds before the curtain rises. It’s just incredible.

This week, they're showcasing the mesmerising ‘Giselle’, a romantic ballet about love, betrayal, and ultimately, the bittersweet beauty of self-sacrifice. You can’t imagine the sheer brilliance of the choreography and the artistry on display! Every step, every leap, every twirl – it's a dance that goes straight to the soul, leaving me wanting more.

A Glimpse of Everyday Life

Even though my dance shoes have barely stopped tapping, I’m taking the opportunity to soak in everything else Rome has to offer. Yesterday, I ventured out to the Trevi Fountain, that iconic structure that makes a perfect setting for some rather beautiful, albeit a little cliché, pink-tutu-inspired photos (you'll find them on Instagram, darling!). I found myself entranced by the intricate details and the cascading water, just imagining the stories each drop had to tell.

The markets! The sights! The scents! They're like a feast for the senses – I swear, a pink tutu wouldn't go amiss in a bustling market, wouldn’t it?

I had a rather delectable lunch at a tiny trattoria tucked away down a cobblestoned alley. I can't even tell you what it was called (I blame it on all the Roman wine!), but oh my goodness, the aroma of freshly baked bread, the sound of chatter, and the warmth of the locals - just fantastic! I am absolutely loving the traditional Roman cuisine – and of course, it makes me even more excited to embrace this fabulous culture.

A Dancer's Dream Come True

My evenings are filled with exploring Rome’s nightlife, and this city does not disappoint. The live music pouring out of little trattorias and cafés, the passionate dancing in the streets, the laughter and camaraderie, the incredible Italian passion, it’s something I simply don’t get enough of.

I've got a few more performances to see at the Teatro dell’Opera this week - I simply cannot get enough of those ballets! I even had a lovely afternoon in the theatre district browsing through the ballet shops for that special something. Oh, I found a pair of gorgeous crimson ballet shoes that are destined to become a treasured piece in my collection.

It feels like the ultimate ballerina's pilgrimage - from admiring the grandeur of the opera house to immersing myself in the artistic energy of the city. Honestly, every moment is just an inspiration for me, both in my life as a ballerina and as a travel blogger, as well as just a fun and loving woman.

And What About The Tutu?

As for the tutu, well, she’s having the time of her life. Dancing on cobbled streets, swirling in fountains, and striking poses amidst the timeless beauty of Rome.

I know that many of you might be thinking, "How can a girl from Derbyshire be dancing in Rome? That’s so far away! And why a tutu?”

I believe you should live life on your own terms! Do what you love and go for what you want – be bold! That's my mantra, anyway, and I try to live my life that way. Of course, that involves embracing the tutus – just as it involves my dedication to the performing arts, the beauty of travel, and most importantly, the joys of fashion!

Oh, and don't forget about our amazing Pink Tutu community! We're growing every day with every new subscriber and every shared comment. It means so much to me that so many of you share my passion and enthusiasm for tutus and the joy they bring. And believe me, this journey isn't just for me. It’s a way of inspiring all of you out there to embrace the extraordinary and step outside of your comfort zones, just like my beautiful tutu is.

Join me on this journey to Italy, on my Pink Tutu travels and in the fabulous world of fashion and dancing. Remember to share your adventures, your journeys, and your beautiful tutu creations with me. Let’s celebrate fashion, joy, and life together.

Until next Wednesday, my darlings!

Ciao,
Emma
