Pink Tutu Rome: Week 890 - La Dolce Vita!

Ciao, darlings!

It’s Emma here, back from the magical metropolis that is Rome! I've been waltzing through cobblestone streets, soaking up the sun, and yes, you guessed it, sporting my very own pink tutu.

This week, Rome has definitely lived up to its reputation – La Dolce Vita was certainly on the menu! We’re all about those beautiful things in life: fabulous fashion, inspiring architecture, delicious food, and most importantly, a whole lot of pink. This post is brimming with pretty pictures and a sprinkle of ballerina magic – all captured in the heart of the Eternal City!

The Journey

The journey itself was an absolute dream! A train journey, you ask? Absolutely! What better way to embark on a European adventure than via the smooth tracks, right? It’s always a bit of a treat to board a train; there's an element of magic in leaving behind the familiar and heading into the unknown. This time, I was especially excited about the destination – Rome!

For a little touch of pink magic on my journey, I wore a pale blush pink silk top with a lace collar, my trusty navy trench coat, and, naturally, a full-length, pink tutu in a stunning floral pattern.

Roman Rhapsody

As soon as I stepped off the train and inhaled that glorious, sunny air, I knew this was going to be special. The energy in Rome is electric; there’s an unmistakable buzz that crackles through the cobbled streets. The whole city seemed to have been plucked straight out of a fairy tale, all gilded buildings, sprawling gardens, and a scattering of fountains bubbling with joy.

My first stop? A trip to see the Colosseum. Now, the Colosseum, that giant amphitheatre, has a history as dramatic as a ballet performance. Just imagine, all those ancient gladiators battling it out – truly, a scene right out of a film! Of course, my outfit had to match the grandeur of the setting: a beautiful scarlet maxi dress adorned with sequins, complete with a full, pink tutu floating around my feet like a majestic ballet skirt.

Pink-tinted Treasures

What’s a visit to Rome without a little indulgence in pink delights? And for that, we went to Trastevere – the place to be for unique fashion finds, trendy shops, and buzzing cafes. I am obsessed with all the colours and patterns; it's such a vibrant part of Rome.

Naturally, the main objective was to find pink. And find pink we did! I snagged a pink vintage silk scarf that would look gorgeous on my new tutu. Then, I found this fantastically fun pink hand-painted clutch bag; imagine the perfect compliment to my fuchsia polka dot dress!

The Flavours of Rome

As the sun dipped towards the horizon, we sought solace in one of Trastevere’s hidden gems – an outdoor trattoria serving the most delicious Roman pasta imaginable! The aroma of herbs and spices wafted through the air as I savoured my meal, which included a rich and creamy carbonara (delicious!), a salad bursting with vibrant colours (lots of orange and yellow, my favourite), and, of course, a generous scoop of creamy gelato. I opted for the flavour “Fragola” - the Italian word for “strawberry”! It was the perfect end to a perfect day, a sweet and delicious moment in a sea of pink-hued bliss.

The Ballet

Now, you know me, a trip to a new city wouldn't be complete without experiencing some local ballet! The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, nestled in a breathtaking building with its neoclassical facade, is a must for any dancer!

For the performance, I went for a full, graceful pink tulle tutu paired with a delicate black velvet bodice and a glittering silver hair comb, adorned with a single blush-pink rose. As the music swept through the grand hall, I was whisked away into a world of passionate leaps and graceful pirouettes. It was everything I’d hoped for: a whirlwind of vibrant colors and a story told through the power of movement.

Back to the Future

As my time in Rome came to a close, I knew I had to come back soon. Rome is truly one of those cities that feels like home, with its captivating blend of ancient history, contemporary cool, and undeniable beauty.

What's my advice to you? Embrace the Italian spirit. Wear that pink tutu with confidence. And always remember that life is an endless ballet, filled with exhilarating moments, joyful jumps, and beautiful stories waiting to be told.

Until next week, darlings!
