Pink Tutu Rome #893: La Dolce Vita in a Tutu!

Ciao bella! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Rome adventure! Today is the 18th of July, 2012, and I'm absolutely buzzing to share all the wonderful things I've discovered in this incredible city. As always, I'm rocking my signature pink tutu, because why not? Life is too short for boring outfits, and besides, who says you can't embrace your inner ballerina in Rome?

Remember how I mentioned in last week's post that I was off to see "Swan Lake" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma? Well, let me tell you, it was divine. The dancing was exquisite, the costumes were simply breathtaking, and the whole atmosphere was pure magic. I'd even go as far as to say it was even more special than seeing it at the Royal Opera House in London! After the show, I felt like I was walking on clouds, and I definitely had to try and recreate some of the steps at the train station ā€“ much to the amusement of the other passengers.

But let's rewind back to the start of my Roman adventure, because it all began with a magnificent journey by train! I boarded the Eurostar in Derby (my home town in Derbyshire, England) with a suitcase overflowing with sparkly outfits and, of course, my faithful tutu. It's all about making a statement, isn't it? Travelling by train is always such a relaxing experience. The gentle rhythm of the wheels, the rolling countryside, and the opportunity to lose myself in a good book (currently, it's a classic Italian romance ā€“ swoon!).

Once I reached Rome, the city embraced me like a warm, welcoming hug. I couldn't help but notice that even the streets had a sense of style. Everywhere I looked, there were gorgeous boutiques showcasing the latest fashions, beautiful architecture bursting with character, and, most importantly, fantastic gelato shops. Yes, itā€™s true, the Romans love their gelato! I'm not sure I can say no to a delicious scoop of pistachio (with a pink sprinkles of course!) after every sightseeing escapade.

One of my favourite parts about visiting a new city is exploring the local markets. I've been spending some time wandering around the markets of Campo de' Fiori and Testaccio. These places are bursting with colourful fresh produce, amazing cheeses, beautiful flowers, and a whole lot of friendly chatter! It's truly a sensory feast and the best place to grab a cheap bite for lunch, though I must say that some of the aromas wafting from the fish stalls have sent my delicate ballet-trained nose into a slight panic.

But no visit to Rome is complete without a trip to the Colosseum! It was truly incredible seeing this magnificent structure standing proud, even after all these years. The grandeur of it all gave me chills, and it was impossible not to feel transported back in time, imagining the gladiators battling it out in the arena. I even spotted a little street performer wearing a makeshift gladiator costume, who I have no doubt would be thrilled if I convinced him to swap his attire for a pink tutu. You know, a little touch of pink can add some magic to everything.

Speaking of magic, I've been captivated by the vibrant street performers that bring so much joy to the streets of Rome. From talented musicians serenading passers-by, to acrobatic artists showcasing incredible feats of balance, thereā€™s no shortage of entertainment. And let's not forget the art, the history, the cultureā€¦ this city truly has it all.

Of course, no Pink Tutu Rome adventure would be complete without a dash of shopping! Rome is a haven for fashion lovers. Every corner reveals another boutique with beautiful designer clothes, intricate jewellery, and stunning shoes that I simply must try on. I have been known to make the occasional purchase (ahem, a few silk scarves that screamed ā€œRomeā€)ā€¦ But hey, it's all part of the experience, isn't it? And if it makes me feel even more like a ballerina, all the better!

Speaking of shopping, I'm about to make a little detour to one of the oldest bakeries in the city for some traditional Italian pastries, then I'm off to a little tea shop that is apparently famous for their lemon tart. My stomach is grumbling as I type this. Oh, I love Italy, but can I also have a little English afternoon tea in here too please? Perhaps we can open a ā€˜pink-tutuā€™ themed tea shop here!

Iā€™m finding my life in Rome, if not entirely glamorous, at least incredibly exciting. Every day feels like a new chapter in my very own storybook. There's always something to see, something to do, something to discover, something to experience. Rome is a city that makes me feel alive, and I can't wait to see what the rest of my journey brings.

Until next Wednesday,

Love,

Emma

XOXO

P.S. I can't leave you without sharing my latest fashion inspiration. I saw this stunning Italian model the other day sporting a delicate, lace-trimmed, pastel-pink dress, and it made me dream of the ultimate ballerina outfit. Maybe next week Iā€™ll find the perfect pink dress in Rome that I can make into a ballerina dream. I just know I'm going to create the most gorgeous, dreamy outfit for next weekā€™s Pink Tutu Wednesday. And if anyone out there wants to try out a pink tutu with me in Rome, feel free to DM me!

P.P.S. I've been inspired by Romeā€™s passionate energy, and my dancing shoes are calling out for some action. I'm thinking of exploring the cityā€™s ballet studios to find a class. Who knows, maybe I'll even meet some local dancers who would be up for wearing pink tutus too? Now that would be a dream come true!

P.P.P.S. Donā€™t forget to follow my Instagram and TikTok accounts for daily updates, my fashion finds, and all the ballet fun in Rome. It's going to be a tutuly fantastic adventure.
