Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2012-08-08 - The Eternal City's Enchanting Enchantment!

Hello my lovelies,

Welcome back to another Wednesday, another week of Pink Tutu adventures! I'm sitting here at a little café in the heart of Rome, sipping cappuccino, the aroma of freshly baked bread mingling with the air of ancient history. Yes, my dears, this week Pink Tutu has found herself in the Eternal City, Rome! It’s post number 896 on www.pink-tutu.com and the sun is shining on this glorious Wednesday! I’m so excited to share it all with you.

You know how much I love train journeys. And let me tell you, the train ride from Derbyshire was magical! It was like being whisked away in a fairytale – a rolling montage of breathtaking scenery and captivating conversations with fellow travellers. Honestly, it felt like an actual stage! A big, vast stage. We went through France and arrived at Rome Termini, oh so fabulous. I was already feeling the enchantment!

Now, to arrive in Rome is truly an experience in itself. The history practically slaps you in the face. It's amazing! It’s so incredible and overwhelming, all at the same time. The Roman Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon – each a marvel, each a story whispered in the very air around you. Every stone speaks of another era, and every corner promises a new discovery.

I, of course, took this opportunity to channel my inner Roman goddess. The moment I stepped out onto the cobbles, I donned a custom-made pink tulle creation – it just wouldn’t do to be seen in a simple outfit, you know? With strategically placed rhinestones and my trusty ballet shoes, I became an ode to feminine beauty in this historic, ancient land! Imagine if you will, a flurry of pink against the marble grandeur, and I do! My phone was bursting with photos from every corner!

Naturally, the first thing I did was head for a spot of shopping! You simply can't be in Rome without browsing the designer boutiques! Valentino, Gucci, Armani… the names are practically written in the cobblestones. My feet almost danced themselves through the streets! There was so much glitz and glam, it made me dizzy! The window displays, the gorgeous dresses and bags - everything was screaming fashion.

Rome, my lovelies, is truly a feast for the senses, both for the fashion and for the soul!

We visited the Colosseum last night, just after sunset. The crowds had dispersed, leaving just enough people to give a wonderful atmosphere, but no crowds to obscure the view! You can imagine me standing before this ancient giant, my pink tutu twirling softly in the cool night air. My imagination was wild. Imagine the gladiators, the roar of the crowd, the spectacle – I was truly stepping into history!

Today, I went to see one of Rome's many fabulous ballet shows at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. I know, it was an act of divine serendipity that it coincided with my trip to Rome, it’s just too fabulous! I can't lie, my pink tutu stole the show. I felt right at home, surrounded by a culture that truly embraces artistic expression, beauty, and performance. As the curtains fell, and I found myself back in my little cafe, I realised it wasn't just the ballet or the ancient architecture that had enthralled me; it was the feeling that Rome itself is like a stage – a grand stage – set against the canvas of history, waiting for its next scene to unfold!

I know, some of you might be saying "Emma, wearing a tutu to Rome, that’s madness! ". I say, Rome is all about breaking boundaries, pushing the limits of what we believe we can be, or wear. You don't have to have a pink tutu on to feel this way, though, you could do it in your everyday outfit!

Rome is an experience that simply can't be explained; it has to be felt. But what I will say, my dears, is that if you ever get a chance to visit this city, you HAVE to try a cappuccino! Or better yet, a Frappé al Caffè - it’s basically a delicious coffee milkshake – they’re everywhere! I had one this morning, watching the street performers - what a great mix of ancient city and street entertainment, very Roman, it was a ballet in its own way!

I'm not sure if I should tell you how many gorgeous outfits I found - but Rome does not disappoint for fashionistas. You need to go. Honestly, my dearest followers, you really have to put Rome on your bucket list! It's everything you imagine, and more!

Until next week, keep dreaming, keep twirling and keep those pink tutus shining!

Lots of Love,

Emma xxx
