Pink Tutu Rome - Post #897 - Ciao Bella!

Well, darling, it's Wednesday and you know what that means? A brand new Pink Tutu blog post from yours truly, Emma! I'm absolutely buzzing to be sharing my latest adventure with you all - this week, we're waltzing into Rome!

The Colosseum is calling, the gelato is tempting, and I'm ready to sashay my way through the cobblestone streets in my signature pink tutu, naturally. 😉

So, how did I find myself in the Eternal City? You see, dear readers, a little birdie told me about a dazzling ballet show featuring La Scala dancers at the Teatro dell'Opera. Imagine - La Scala! Could I resist? Of course not! 🩰

Speaking of resistance, the train journey was just fabulous, as usual. There's something about the click-clack of the rails and the scenery whizzing by that just fills me with so much joy. I do love the romance of train travel - so much more relaxing than airports and security checks, and, let's be honest, way more chic. It allowed me to don a new silk scarf and pair it with my go-to travelling ballet flats. I call them my Ballet-to-Rome shoes! 😉

And speaking of chic, let's chat about my wardrobe. I just can't travel without some truly gorgeous pink goodies! For Rome, darling, I'm going full-on la dolce vita, with a flowing pink chiffon dress, perfect for swirling through the Piazza Navona, and a stunning floral-print skirt I picked up in Derbyshire (because even my local shops have some delightful gems! I'm a big fan of supporting local independent boutiques!). I’m rocking my Pink Tutu Rome ensemble - a classic pink tutu and a silky pale pink T-shirt with some cheeky Roman Colosseum print. I think this is the outfit I’m going to dance my way through all my photos and Instagram posts.

And for my handbag, I couldn’t go anywhere without my Ballet Bag, naturally. She’s a vintage beauty with delicate pink and silver beading, and perfect for holding all my essentials - lipstick, a tiny notebook for scribbling down my thoughts (because darling, I’ve been known to have a burst of inspiration!), and a whole load of travel sized pink toiletries. 💄

Now, you all know that my true love is the theatre, so I couldn’t resist having a good old-fashioned shopping spree at one of Rome’s famous designer boutiques before the ballet. Let's just say I may have treated myself to a few eye-catching pieces… shall we say a vintage-style pink satin clutch and a pair of pink feather earrings. It just wouldn't be right to enjoy the spectacle of La Scala in anything other than something sparkly! ✨

I just can’t wait to soak in the grandeur of the Teatro dell’Opera - and feel the energy of all the other ballet enthusiasts around me. And of course, darling, I’m ready to let my hair down! I’m thinking maybe a pink hair ribbon with some pretty pink flowers... I'm feeling creative already! 😉

But, first, the main reason for this blog post... I found out that August 15th is actually Ferragosto, a national holiday in Italy! They celebrate the Assumption of the Virgin Mary with public gatherings, religious processions, and a general feeling of festivities. This all culminates in some fabulous firework displays. So we’re adding another event to our itinerary! Now that’s my kind of celebratory festivity. I wonder if they'll be playing any tutus? 😏 I think we need to go on a search for some fabulous pink fireworks... I think we might even spot a pink Italian ice cream to get us into the holiday spirit. We'll be sure to update you all with some fabulous pictures on our Instagram – @PinkTutu - of all the fabulous places we visit!

Until next week, darling, stay sparkly and don't forget, every day can be a ballet if you want it to be!

See you next week for more Pink Tutu adventures,

Emma xx
