Pink Tutu Rome: #902 - Bella Roma!
Ciao bella! It's your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger Emma here, back with a brand new post from the magical city of Rome! This is #902 in my series, a journey into all things pink, twirling, and utterly delightful.
As the sun climbs high over the rooftops of this ancient city, I'm sat sipping my cappuccino, soaking in the atmosphere of this charming little cafe. The air hums with a lively energy - the sweet sounds of chatter and the tantalising scent of freshly baked pastries, it’s enough to make anyone’s heart skip a beat.
Today's itinerary? Well, it's all about exploring the timeless elegance of Rome. I'm determined to take in as much of this beautiful city as I can – from the iconic Trevi Fountain, where I plan to throw a coin in for good luck (naturally, with a little twirl!) to the Coliseum, which whispers with history and echoes of the past. Oh, and don't forget the Vatican City - who can resist a spot of historical architecture and heavenly artwork? I’ve heard the Sistine Chapel is spectacular – think intricate frescoes and a sense of spiritual beauty. I can’t wait!
Speaking of art, my inner ballerina is bursting with excitement. This weekend I'll be catching the ballet at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. It’s a performance of “Giselle,” and just picturing myself sweeping across that stage dressed in a billowing pink tutu, brings a giddy smile to my face! A performance and a bit of culture? Now that’s a delightful way to spend a Saturday.
And who says shopping in Rome isn't an art in itself? I plan on treating myself to some fabulous finds on the Via Condotti, where I know I'll discover an eclectic mix of couture and Italian flair – all guaranteed to tickle my fancy! After all, a ballerina has got to keep her wardrobe sparkling.
How I make my travels possible:
It’s true, this adventurous ballerina doesn't have a bottomless bank account – it’s all down to careful budgeting and dedication to the art of ballet. To fund these trips, I perform at a range of events – galas, festivals, you name it. Every graceful turn, every perfectly timed leap brings me closer to fulfilling my travel dreams. And wouldn't you know it, last weekend was an absolute blast! I twirled my way through a charity gala at the gorgeous stately home in Derbyshire where I grew up – it's amazing how you can make magic with nothing but a pink tutu, a dash of imagination, and a heart filled with joy.
Of course, this pink-loving adventurer always likes to document her travels! Follow my journey on www.pink-tutu.com. Each week on Wednesday I'll be adding a new post filled with stories, photos, and travel tips, so you can experience the joy of pink tulle right alongside me.
Rome is just one stop on my ever-growing list of pink tutu-tastic destinations, each one as special as the last. So buckle up, dear reader, because my journey through the world of ballet, beauty, and travel is just beginning!
What's happening in the world of pink this week
• This Saturday, I’ll be performing a short set at a ballet class fundraiser for a local children’s hospital, so of course, my tutu is already prepped and ready to go! (Just got to make sure my shoes are sparkly enough!) • And in exciting news, the National Ballet Company announced their next tour will feature “The Nutcracker,” and of course, they have my dream part in it - Clara, the little girl with the magical Christmas nutcracker. Who needs sugar plums when you’ve got sparkly, glitzy, and pink tutus?! I’m on top of the world right now! • I’ve just been invited to speak at a local dance academy’s event, about the power of dance to change lives. (I have to say, wearing a pink tutu makes a pretty bold statement on its own). It’s quite a thrill, I'm not going to lie – I’m a little nervous, but the idea of inspiring even one person is a real motivation for me. You might be wondering what I’ll wear - that’s for another post (stay tuned). I just can't resist an outfit change!
*My top three tips for visiting Rome: *
- Grab a gelato – every flavour from classic strawberry to indulgent hazelnut – the taste of Italy will be with you for weeks to come. Just watch out for the sticky fingers and wear a tutu that’s easy to clean. (This is crucial - ask me how I know!)
- Embrace the walkability - it’s such a charming city, and what better way to discover its secrets than to wander those beautiful cobblestone streets.
- Let the locals inspire you: there's something special about the way people here move, and how they approach life with a sense of artistry and grace. A lesson that every ballerina can take away!
So until next week, darlings, stay bright and sparkly - after all, the world needs a bit of pink, twirling magic! And remember, anyone can be a ballerina, because every life is a dance to be savored.
Stay beautiful, Emma xxx
