Pink Tutu Rome: Week 903 - Ciao Bella!
Wednesday, 26th September 2012
Hello my lovely Tutuettes! It's your favourite pink-tutu-clad travel enthusiast back with another exciting post from the eternal city of Rome! This week I'm bubbling over with excitement about this glorious, ancient, utterly charming place, so grab a glass of Italian sunshine and join me on this Roman adventure!
You know me - always on the lookout for that perfect pink tutu to match my current mood and setting. This week, my trusty ballet bag is stuffed with a cloud-pink tulle dream, just perfect for twirling among the Colosseum and whispering secrets to the Trevi Fountain. Rome truly does inspire creativity, and it's no wonder why fashion designers find their muse here!
But before I get swept away by the stunning sights and Italian elegance, let's rewind a little.
My journey to Rome, like many of my recent trips, began on the Eurostar. It truly is the most magical way to travel! I adore that feeling of excitement, stepping onto that sleek silver train, leaving all my worries behind. Of course, no travel is complete without the right outfit. I opted for a classic monochrome combo - a crisp white shirt paired with a powder pink skirt, accessorised with my signature, ever-present, pink tutu of course! After all, even a seasoned train traveller needs a touch of magic on the journey.
Landing in Rome, I was greeted with sunshine, charming architecture, and the sound of laughter echoing through the streets. Honestly, just breathing in the Roman air had me feeling like I'd stepped into a beautifully crafted movie scene!
First stop, of course, was a charming little shop bursting with all sorts of delicious treats, including a heavenly lemon tart that made me giggle with pure delight! It's a perfect example of how Rome just makes you smile. It’s a city bursting with vibrancy, where the people are friendly, the sights are breathtaking, and the food is… well, it simply deserves an entire blog post of its own.
Speaking of the food, I simply had to share a snippet of what I've been indulging in so far! Creamy, dreamy gelato with the most divine flavour combinations imaginable! Oh, and let's not forget the pizzas - thin-crust perfection with ingredients bursting with flavour. Don’t even get me started on the pastas - each one I've tasted has been an absolute dream, a little taste of Italian heaven!
After a whirlwind day, my lovely hotel in the heart of Trastevere, a picturesque neighbourhood with cobbled streets and cosy restaurants, welcomed me with open arms. Now, let me tell you about my absolute favourite part of the day - strolling through Trastevere in the evening. It’s like stepping into a storybook, full of twinkling lights, charming trattorias, and that most romantic atmosphere! And I am definitely ready to unleash the magic of pink tutus on these quaint streets!
Of course, no Roman adventure is complete without visiting the Colosseum. I know I'm gushing but it’s just so captivating, filled with so much history and energy. It truly transported me back in time! I also made my way to the Trevi Fountain, just for that magical toss of a coin, to guarantee my return to Rome one day. And oh, the magnificent Trevi fountain truly makes you feel as if you are a part of something much bigger, a beautiful echo of centuries past!
I'll be exploring even more of this magnificent city this week, from the Vatican City with its spectacular art, to the ancient Roman Forum, to those charming boutique shops bursting with elegant and stylish outfits. Speaking of fashion, this is my little secret of the day - I discovered a beautiful pink leather clutch, so very perfect for my little ballerina! This Roman shopping adventure is turning out to be more successful than I could have ever dreamed!
This Wednesday is about more than just sightseeing - it's about embracing that "dolce vita" - the sweet life! It’s about strolling leisurely through markets, sampling those mouth-watering local delights, indulging in a spot of shopping, and soaking up that beautiful Italian sunshine.
Of course, I couldn’t miss out on seeing a spectacular ballet performance at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma. There is simply nothing like the energy of a live performance, especially with an elegant Italian ballet company. This truly inspired me to pick up my pink tutu and have a whirl through the cobbled streets, letting my heart do all the talking! The Italians sure know how to enjoy the beauty of dance and they’re all for it! Even my taxi driver seemed quite happy when I took a little twirl outside the theatre!
And now, with the moonbeams playing hide-and-seek over the ancient rooftops, and my tired but happy feet tucked beneath me, I'll bid you a sweet goodnight.
Remember, every day is a new adventure. So find that pink tutu, channel your inner ballerina, and go out there and make some magic!
Until next week,
Emma xxx
