Ciao Bella! It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for another dose of pink tutu magic from the Eternal City!
I'm absolutely buzzing, because today marks the launch of my Rome Blog – the latest in my series of city adventures where I explore the world, one tutu at a time. Now, you might be wondering, Emma, why Rome? Well, darling, this city is bursting with beauty, history, and yes, even a touch of drama! It's a place that makes you feel like you've stepped into a Fellini film – all sweeping gestures and colourful characters! Plus, have you seen the food?! Talk about an excuse to indulge!
And of course, you all know my motto - wherever I go, the pink tutu follows. This week, it’s a vintage number, a bit like Rome itself: a timeless classic with a dash of eccentricity. Let’s just say, it's garnered quite a bit of attention. I spotted a little old lady staring at me across a café, and when I smiled and twirled for her, she actually started clapping! Rome is certainly a city that embraces theatrics!
Now, let’s delve into the wonders I've encountered on my Roman adventure so far. My trip kicked off in the most elegant way possible: a first-class train journey from Derbyshire. The journey is an absolute dream, filled with stunning landscapes and the satisfying rhythmic clatter of the rails – perfect for getting those creative juices flowing! You can find me curled up in a corner seat, lost in a good book, or planning my next outfit. You'd be surprised how much fashion inspiration comes from train journeys!
Speaking of inspiration, the streets of Rome have a way of making you want to spin and twirl! I’ve been practically prancing through cobblestone streets, marveling at the stunning architecture, vibrant colours, and of course, the abundance of delectable gelaterias. (Let's just say, I've been living on gelato, and not a shred of guilt in sight!)
Rome is all about immersing yourself in history, so of course, I had to visit the Colosseum. Walking through those ancient ruins, imagining gladiators battling beneath the Roman sun, was truly magical! There's a real tangible sense of history in this city, a whisper of empires past. It was almost as if those gladiators would step out from the shadows and join me for a performance in the amphitheatre!
Speaking of performances, this week’s blog post comes directly after another triumphant show! I danced my heart out last night, helping to raise funds for my upcoming Parisian adventures. (Just wait until you hear about the vintage tutu I have planned for that trip! Let’s just say it’s French chic with a hint of Parisian flair).
Of course, no trip to Rome would be complete without indulging in the exquisite fashion scene. I found a tiny boutique near the Pantheon crammed with designer vintage treasures - think 1960s palazzo pants and velvet capes that whispered promises of Italian glamour. You wouldn’t believe the fabulous leather boots I scored, they are the perfect statement piece for this pink-tutu-wearing adventurer!
Speaking of statement pieces, my current wardrobe is quite the eclectic mix: a rainbow of fabrics, shimmering sequins, and oh-so-many shades of pink, of course! Rome inspires you to wear your heart on your sleeve - or shall we say, your tutu? And frankly, I couldn’t be happier. I’m feeling bolder than ever, embracing the Italian joie de vivre with every twirl and spin. The streets of Rome are my stage, and every glance, every smile is an ovation!
The rest of my Roman adventure promises to be equally filled with culture, charm, and lots of delicious food.
