Pink Tutu Rome: Ciao Bella! #912

Hello my lovelies! It's Wednesday, and you know what that means... it's time for a new Pink Tutu Rome adventure! This week, I'm stepping out of the studio and into the vibrant, beautiful streets of the Eternal City, and believe me, you'll want to grab your pink tutu (or maybe a dazzling scarlet one!) because this is a trip that's just oozing glamour!

So, as you know, I’m obsessed with trains. That iconic, majestic, “chuff, chuff” sound. I actually get my biggest thrills from arriving in a new city by train, especially on a solo trip. Imagine my joy to be sat amongst a vibrant, exciting, chattering Italian crowd in the opulent splendour of the Termini railway station! This place is pure cinema. It's almost like you're being transported back in time to a more elegant era, and I, of course, felt like a princess straight out of a fairytale.

Then, as we disembarked onto the bustling, bustling streets, my pink tutu and I embraced the cacophony of street life. I felt that intoxicating energy as soon as we stepped out onto the Piazza dei Cinquecento. There’s something undeniably thrilling about exploring a city completely unknown and being confronted by a culture so different from your own.

And trust me, my fellow tutu enthusiasts, there's no better way to discover the essence of Rome than to simply wander! You get to soak up the ambiance, admire the ancient ruins that are scattered through every neighbourhood like artistic sprinkles on a delicious dessert, and of course, spot all the fab fashion that graces this dazzling city!

The Ballet Buzz

So, I'm not going to lie – my heart's been pounding for ballet since we touched down! The air in Rome feels electric with passion for the arts, and that includes dance. The Opera House is breathtakingly beautiful, even more so because its architecture so perfectly reflects the glamour of its purpose. And that leads me, of course, to the one thing that brings me joy beyond anything else - ballet! I mean, what's better than an enchanting show after a day spent exploring a breathtaking city?

Tutus and Treats

My search for the ultimate pink tutu is still on! Luckily, Rome seems to have no shortage of beautiful shops crammed full of stunning garments! And of course, there's been a fair amount of pastry indulgence! Oh my word, you wouldn’t believe the delicious things they’ve got here! Think rich, dense chocolate, fragrant spices, whipped cream and fluffy, fluffy pastries – all washed down with an espresso. Heaven!

But what truly made my Wednesday evening sing was catching a performance of “La Traviata” at the Opera House. I must admit that I cried a little – just a little. But that’s ok. And what I particularly loved about the show is how much of the staging felt just like an elaborate ballet! I couldn't help but imagine myself in the place of the protagonists – spinning in a graceful whirlwind of sparkling tulle against the most stunning set pieces.

You see, in a way, ballet really is a dance with life – a performance that blends beauty with a compelling story, tragedy, drama and raw emotion – all in one fabulous package! And to find that same element of story woven into such an enchanting show just leaves me feeling truly inspired! And yes, more than a little bit pink-tutti happy!

I'll be back next week to share more adventures from the heart of Rome. Until then, wear your tutus proudly and keep your eyes on those beautiful streets! Remember - every day is a stage, and the world is our beautiful theatre! See you next week my dears!
