Pink Tutu Rome - Post 918 - Wednesday 9th January 2013: A Roman Holiday in Pink
Hello, lovelies! Emma here, your trusty tutu-clad travel companion. As I tap my way across the cobbles of the Eternal City, my mind races with the endless beauty surrounding me. Yes, Rome truly lives up to its name!
Rome by Train: A Whirlwind of History and Whimsy
I arrived in the heart of this vibrant city by train. You know how much I adore train travel; the rhythm of the rails, the passing landscapes, and the opportunity to catch up on my favourite reads, always accompanied by a good book, a steaming cuppa and, of course, my trusty pink tutu. The journey was simply delightful, transporting me from my quiet corner of Derbyshire, England, right into the very core of Roman history. I had so much time to think, to write notes in my travel journal (filled with pink post-it notes!), and even manage a little ballet stretching between the seat and the overhead rack!
Ciao, Bella Rome!
Stepping onto the platform, the first thing that struck me was the vibrant atmosphere. There was such a palpable buzz in the air. Even the cobblestones seemed to pulsate with energy, echoing the joyous cries of chattering locals. Immediately, I felt a sense of warmth and excitement – it was as though Rome herself was offering me a warm hug!
Fashion Forward in the Eternal City
Now, my fellow fashionistas, let’s talk about the clothes! My favourite thing about Rome so far? The amazing blend of classic Roman chic with modern fashion trends. It's a style revolution, darling! I saw gorgeous, flowing fabrics with intricate designs, flowing effortlessly on statuesque ladies who, yes, you guessed it, also seemed to be embracing the allure of pink! Oh, Rome, you make me happy!
My Roman To-Do List:
I’ve been compiling a list of all the fabulous things to see and do in this enchanting city.
- Roman Colosseum: The gladiatorial arena! Just imagining the fierce battles and roaring crowds has my heart beating faster!
- Trevi Fountain: Coins tossed over the edge for good fortune.
- Vatican City: The Pope’s beautiful palace, Michelangelo’s iconic masterpiece (The Pieta), the grand basilica… This one is high on the list for a full day of exploring!
- St Peter’s Basilica: Speaking of art, can we just talk about the intricate marble and gold!
- Borghese Gallery & Gardens: An enchanting spot with classical sculptures, an idyllic landscape, and rumour has it, they have a little coffee shop... which means delicious snacks for this little ballerina!
- Trastevere: The charming district with cobblestone streets, authentic Roman restaurants, and a little bit of bohemian flair!
- And, of course: Shopping for the perfect souvenir to remind me of this stunning city! Maybe a pair of rose-coloured glasses or a pink scarf...
Pink Tutu and The Arts
As much as I love history, let's not forget my real passion: the arts! The ballet here is captivating – I'm off to see a performance by the prestigious Opera di Roma. Imagine my delight! I may even be inspired to choreograph a piece for them in a pink tutu!
Wednesday 9th January 2013 - An Unforgettable Experience
So far, Rome has surpassed my wildest expectations. It's like a fairytale come to life – breathtaking scenery, friendly people, delicious food, and a history that sings through every street! The only thing missing is a balcony full of flowers. Then, it would be perfect.
Of course, you know I'll be sharing more photos, travel tips, and experiences with you all here, right here on my blog www.pink-tutu.com! Join me for another exciting week exploring Rome!
Remember, pink is a feeling, not just a colour. Don't be afraid to embrace your inner ballerina, and maybe even wear a pink tutu while you’re at it. The world will be a much brighter place for it!
See you soon!
With a pirouette and a sparkle, Emma x
