Pink Tutu Rome #919: Roman Holiday (and a pink tutu, obviously!)

Ciao bella! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means... time for another dose of Pink Tutu adventures! Today, I’m whisking you away to the Eternal City, Rome, a place that's already captured my heart with its cobbled streets, charming squares, and gelato that's just divine!

This trip is all about exploring, but also finding those hidden gems that make a place truly special. I’m on a mission to find the most elegant shops, the prettiest cafes, and of course, the best places to spin in my tutu (because let's be honest, you never know when inspiration might strike).

The Train Journey

My trip started with a lovely train journey from Derbyshire, England. I absolutely adore train travel, especially with the view changing like a storybook. And this journey was no exception! As we travelled across Europe, I caught glimpses of fields of sunflowers, rolling hills, and charming villages, each one making me feel like I was on a cinematic journey.

I settled into my seat, the leather warm against my skin, and got comfortable in my pale pink floral print dress (you'll be seeing more of that dress throughout the week, I can tell!). My favourite pink travel shawl was keeping me toasty in the air-conditioned carriage. It really is a testament to how good your outfits can be for travel, but you just have to embrace pink!

Rome, You're Magic

When I arrived in Rome, it was like stepping into a dream! The train station buzzed with a lively energy, and the air smelled of fresh bread and sunshine. I could immediately tell this place was full of character and vibrance.

After dropping off my luggage at my cute little hotel (more on that later!), I set off to explore. My first stop was the Trevi Fountain, where I stood mesmerized by its beauty. This iconic fountain is breathtakingly elegant! Even more breathtaking, though? Watching couples make wishes and toss coins over their shoulders, hoping for love, or a trip back to this wonderful city. You just can’t beat the energy of a classic fountain, and its incredible Roman architecture. It's something that will forever stay with me.

Gelato Galore

One can't come to Italy and not indulge in gelato, and boy, have I been indulging! There's something magical about sitting on a cobbled street, with a giant waffle cone bursting with flavourful gelato, surrounded by all that Italian charm. Every mouthful has me swooning, with its creamy, decadent goodness.

A Romantic Stroll

That evening, I found myself walking through Piazza Navona. It's a picture-perfect square, bathed in warm golden light, where the scent of blooming flowers hangs in the air. The energy in this piazza is beautiful! Locals gather in cafes to chat and relax, street performers delight passers-by with their music and skills, and laughter mingles with the sound of flowing fountains. I felt so at peace here, enveloped in the joyful atmosphere of Rome.

Ballet Beauty: The Roman Way

Of course, I couldn't come to Rome without seeing some ballet! Tonight, I have tickets to see a performance of Swan Lake at the Teatro dell'Opera. The anticipation is building, and I can’t wait to be swept away by the breathtaking artistry of these talented dancers!

I have a feeling this evening is going to be special, a perfect blend of passion, artistry, and grace – truly an unforgettable experience for a pink tutu-loving ballerina like me.

Shopping Splendor

Oh, how I adore shopping, and Rome has some of the most exquisite boutiques and ateliers. Each one seems to have its own story to tell through the fabrics, the colours, and the artistry. I can’t wait to wander through these streets, on the lookout for a special vintage dress, a beautiful scarf, or a new pair of shoes. I imagine a bright pink handbag nestled within a beautiful window display... or maybe even a tiny pink tutu for a little Roman ballerina in the making!

Pink Tutu Everywhere

I think it's a shame that so many people are afraid to wear pink, let alone a pink tutu! It’s a vibrant and beautiful color, symbolizing all that is joyful, positive, and inspiring. My hope is that my pink tutu adventures, these blog posts, my ballet shows and classes will convince others to step outside their comfort zones and embrace the fabulousness that is pink! If I can do it, in Rome of all places, surely anyone can, right?!

Stay tuned for more exciting adventures as I continue to explore this magical city. Until next week, ciao for now!

Love and twirls,

Emma
