Pink Tutu Rome: #920 - La Dolce Vita in a Tutu!

Ciao bellas! Itā€™s Wednesday, which means itā€™s time for your weekly dose of pink tutu adventures from yours truly, Emma, your fashion-forward, tutu-loving ballerina on the go! Today, weā€™re dancing our way through the Eternal City of Rome!

Itā€™s been a whirlwind week, darling! As usual, I juggled rehearsals and performances for the Derby City Ballet (my day job, so to speak), while also squeezing in some tutu-tastic travel prep. The thing about ballet, my lovelies, is that it really teaches you to manage your time, and what better way to unwind after a demanding performance than with a luxurious train journey to a new and exciting city?

Rome called to me this week. The history, the architecture, the fashion - it all sounded utterly divine! And honestly, my wardrobe wouldn't be complete without a collection of Roman gladiator sandals to accompany my pink tutu, would it? (And yes, I found them!)

The Train Journey: A Ballet of Luxury

This weekā€™s journey was even more special than usual. As a frequent train traveler, Iā€™m always impressed by the seamless elegance of the European rail network, but this time, I took the opportunity to treat myself to a First Class cabin. My fellow passengers seemed as charmed as I was by my pink tutu (who can resist a little tutu magic?). They all just wanted to know what adventures awaited me in the City of Seven Hills.

You see, I believe that travel should be about the experience, and thereā€™s something undeniably romantic about settling in to a comfortable cabin, gazing out at the passing landscapes, and immersing myself in a good book while sipping on a hot cup of tea (the perfect ballet dancer's remedy).

Landing in La CittĆ  Eterna:

Arriving at Termini Station felt like stepping onto the stage of a grand ballet. The ornate architecture, the bustling energy of the city ā€“ everything just sparkled with life. Rome immediately captivated my heart with its vibrant charm, and I just knew I was in for a treat!

Day One: A Dance Through the City's Heart

Let's just say, my dear readers, that this was a day straight out of a romantic movie. My first stop, as I always do in any new city, was to find a local ballet school for a drop-in class. You know me, I've got to stretch those legs and keep those tutus twirling! The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the teacher even complimented me on my "exceptionally bright tutu" ā€“ I simply beamed!

Post-class, I headed for the Colosseum. It's awe-inspiring, a truly gigantic spectacle, and it almost made me want to leap up and do a grand jetĆ© across the stage, it's so grand! Then it was on to the Trevi Fountain. Imagine a tutu shimmering in the moonlight while coins are tossed with hopes and dreams ā€“ just imagine the magic!

And of course, my Rome trip couldn't be complete without a leisurely stroll down Via Condotti, the epicentre of Romeā€™s designer boutiques. I am absolutely smitten with the luxurious Italian brands. Letā€™s just say, my credit card got a workout, but my tutu collection is feeling ever so fabulous!

Day Two: An Opera for the Senses

This is where Rome's magic truly shines, my lovelies! A day at the opera is an absolute must, It was an enchanting performance at Teatro dellā€™Opera di Roma. The melodies filled the air like a delicate ballet of sound, and the grandeur of the setting just stole my breath away. Even with my love for ballet, the operatic experience was utterly divine. I even got a little teary-eyed ā€“ don't tell my ballet friends!

Later that evening, I wandered the cobbled streets of Trastevere, soaking up the authentic Roman spirit. Letā€™s just say the food was just divine, and I definitely needed a second (and third) helping of pasta ā€“ tutus donā€™t stand a chance against Roman cuisine!

Day Three: The Quirky Charm of Roman Markets

Who says ballet and shopping don't go together? You see, my dear readers, finding hidden treasures is part of the adventure. The charming, bustling atmosphere of a local market was simply irresistible, filled with all sorts of unusual souvenirs. I even picked up a pair of hand-painted leather shoes with little ballet-shoe charms dangling from them ā€“ just my style, you see!

And for dinner, I dined in true Roman fashion, with a delectable, simple spaghetti carbonara. The perfect ending to a day full of Roman delights!

Pink Tutu Style:

Every city has its own vibe, don't you think? Here in Rome, Iā€™ve embraced a mix of vintage and modern, the epitome of Italian elegance. I wore a coral-coloured vintage silk dress with a pink tutu tucked beneath. I finished off my look with my Gladiator sandals and a little straw fedora (I have a thing for headwear ā€“ donā€™t tell my mum!). It just seemed perfect for meandering through Rome's cobbled streets.

Why I love traveling by train:

Thereā€™s just something incredibly special about arriving in a city by train, donā€™t you agree? Itā€™s a chance to let the scenery whirl by outside your window, while I can truly immerse myself in a good book, or a captivating movie, and make the most of the relaxing time before the grand adventure starts!

Final Thoughts:

My heart overflows with the love for Rome ā€“ itā€™s truly the perfect mix of art, fashion, and historical magic. It's definitely a place Iā€™ll revisit ā€“ again and again. And you know what else I love about this city? There are so many people who appreciate a bit of twirl and shine in a pink tutu!

I just know Iā€™ve given a glimpse of my own ā€œDolce Vitaā€ here in Rome! But Iā€™d love to know about your own Roman adventures ā€“ so please do leave a comment below!

See you next week for another pink tutu adventure, darlings! Until then, twirl, dance, and always wear a pink tutu!

Ciao!
