Pink Tutu Rome: #932 – Mamma Mia! It's Italy! 🇮🇹🌸

Ciao bella! It’s Emma here, writing to you from the heart of Rome, a city that's stealing my heart faster than a pirouette! I arrived this week after a wonderfully scenic train journey from Venice – oh, the beauty of those Italian landscapes! It was like travelling through a Renaissance painting.

As soon as I set foot in Rome, I knew I was in for a treat. It’s an absolute whirlwind of colour, culture and, of course, pink. Rome's a real sartorial treat, so naturally, I whipped out my most fabulous pink tutu and my trusty Valentino Rockstuds – a perfect outfit for taking in the sights of the Colosseum and the Pantheon.

This week I'm making the most of Rome's stunning art, fashion and cultural offerings. As a ballet dancer at heart, I simply had to visit the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, the iconic opera house. Stepping inside felt like a scene from a fairy tale – gilded ceilings, velvet seats, and enough Italian opera talent to blow your socks off.

Speaking of socks – you simply must buy some fabulous knee-high pink socks if you ever visit Rome! They're the perfect accessory for my signature pink tutu ensemble, and I’ve found some beautiful designs in shops right off the Via Condotti.

But the fashion inspiration doesn’t stop there! I'm planning to hit up Via Borgognona later this week, the place where all the high fashion boutiques live! I’ve heard whispers of a beautiful pink Versace gown – perhaps a future pink tutu costume inspiration?

My days in Rome haven’t just been about shopping and style, though. There’s history, food, and endless Italian sunshine to soak up, and I’ve had a real cultural feast this week.

Yesterday, I stood in awe of the Trevi Fountain, throwing a coin in, of course, to ensure my return (and some shopping on the Via dei Condotti)! The water was so refreshing and the detail of the sculpture was truly captivating. It reminded me of the delicate artistry and precision we use as ballet dancers in our movements, a similar sense of elegance and beauty.

Today I’m enjoying the dolce vita on the Spanish Steps. These majestic steps are absolutely magnificent, and I've taken countless photos of my tutu swirling in the sunshine as I descend.

Rome truly has a magical charm about it – the ancient cobblestone streets, the delicious pizza (oh, my word, it's like a symphony in every bite!), the charming cafes filled with chattering locals, the beautiful fountains, the ancient Roman ruins – it all feels like a ballet in itself.

Even my breakfast has had a ballet feel this week! Rome's famed Italian breakfast is divine – fresh pastries, creamy cappuccinos and, best of all, pink strawberry-filled croissants! This sweet, colourful treat reminded me of the delicate flavours of a dancer's diet – all fuelled with beautiful energy to bring forth elegance and grace on the stage.

But it’s not all glamour, dear reader. Even pink tutu-wearing ballerinas like me have moments where they miss home! Yes, I admit, the heat of Rome has caused a bit of tutu-related discomfort – but luckily my portable fan is working wonders to keep me cool and feeling my best.

It’s moments like these where I’m reminded how my ballet performances really are my ‘superpower.’ I may be dancing in the English countryside, in a derbyshire village hall, but with every pirouette, every arabesque, I earn the opportunity to embark on these fantastic, pink tutu adventures! Every step, every twirl takes me closer to my ultimate dream: spreading the joy and wonder of pink tutus to the whole world!

That’s all for now, my dear readers! Rome is calling – and with it comes the allure of more exquisite fashion, amazing performances and endless possibilities to twirl, smile and live life in my favourite shade – pink, of course. Stay tuned for more adventures on Pink-Tutu.com – and remember, you too can join the pink tutu revolution! Ciao for now! 🌸 💕
