Buongiorno, darlings! Emma here, your favourite pink tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, and I'm bursting with excitement to share my adventures from Rome, the Eternal City! This week's #PinkTutuRome post is all about the glamour, the history, the gorgeous food, and of course, the ballet! It's been a whirlwind of a week, and let me tell you, Rome is living up to all my expectations!
The journey itself was an adventure in its own right. As you know, I adore train travel. There's something magical about watching the world zoom by from the comfort of a plush carriage. The journey from Derbyshire to Rome was scenic, exciting, and allowed me to settle into that "Pink Tutu on Tour" mindset.
The moment I arrived in Rome, I was struck by the energy and buzz of this incredible city. I just had to hop into a chic cafe for a cappuccino and a slice of the most delicious tiramisu I've ever tasted (pink, naturally!), before settling into my lovely hotel in the heart of the city.
Now, you all know I can't resist a bit of shopping, and Rome did not disappoint! From designer boutiques in Via Condotti to quirky vintage finds in Trastevere, I spent the first day discovering treasures for my wardrobe. It's just so wonderful to find beautiful fabrics, textures, and of course, pink - oh, so much pink!
But no trip to Rome is complete without experiencing the iconic Colosseum. Stepping inside this magnificent structure felt truly awe-inspiring. It transported me back in time, picturing gladiators and roaring crowds.
The evenings have been filled with magical experiences, thanks to the city's rich cultural offering. I managed to snag tickets to see a breathtaking performance of "Swan Lake" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma. It was absolutely exquisite! The choreography was masterful, the costumes were beautiful, and the dancing was simply magical. My favourite moment? When the corps de ballet gracefully swept across the stage, their pink tutus sparkling under the spotlights - it was simply enchanting!
Speaking of ballet, I found a fantastic ballet class at the Scuola di Danza Italiana near the Trevi Fountain. Imagine, perfecting my pirouettes with the Roman cityscape as my backdrop! What an amazing way to learn about the rich ballet heritage of Italy!
The food here has been simply divine! Every meal has been an explosion of flavours, with pasta, pizza, gelato, and fresh, delicious ingredients everywhere I turn. It's not all about pink, though! This city is so bursting with character that it's impossible to resist the call of all those delicious, local treats!
As I wander the cobbled streets, I can't help but imagine the countless stories these walls could tell. The sheer history of this city is just overwhelming. It's fascinating to imagine how much life has unfolded here, and I feel so grateful to be experiencing even a glimpse of it.
One thing's for sure, my heart is definitely in Rome. It's a place where culture, history, and beauty blend together seamlessly, creating a truly unique experience. And for a girl who loves a bit of glamour, a pink tutu, and a great performance, this city is pure magic!
