Hello my lovelies! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another installment of my Pink Tutu Rome adventures! This week, I'm bouncing around the Eternal City, taking in all the sights, sounds, and of course, the shopping. I can't resist a good fashion fix, can I?
Speaking of fashion, I just had to incorporate a touch of pink into my outfit today. This glorious sunshine is just calling for some pastel hues! Imagine: A powder pink silk blouse paired with a blush tulle tutu, a delicate floral headband and my trusty, dusty rose satchel. It's a classic, feminine look that makes me feel like a true Roman princess (well, maybe not a princess, but definitely a ballerina in the Piazza Navona)!
Before I delve into the whirlwind of my day, let me take you back to my journey here. Travelling by train is my absolute favourite. The journey was a delight, surrounded by fellow travellers, each with their own story to tell. It feels like a tiny ballet performance in itself, with all the different personalities on show. I was surrounded by excited chatter and the aroma of fresh pastries. I mean, even the train journey felt like an adventure!
Roman Dreams:
Now, let me tell you, Rome has been nothing short of breathtaking! The history, the architecture, the food... everything here just sings!
My first few days in Rome were a whirl of excitement. I got my bearings, wandered through cobblestone streets, admired the iconic Colosseum, and threw a coin in Trevi Fountain for good luck. I even managed to snag a beautiful hand-painted, rose-shaped fan in the market square, which was the perfect souvenir to carry around!
The Italian food is something else! From the delicious pizza at that cute little cafe near the Pantheon, to the heavenly gelato we sampled by the fountain, every taste sensation is pure magic. And let's not forget the Italian coffee, served with that characteristic warmth and a smile!
Dance, Dance, Dance:
Of course, I wouldn't be a true Pink Tutu blogger if I didn't make time for some dancing! The city is alive with music, and I spotted a street performance outside the Pantheon yesterday, featuring a group of talented street dancers. They had a dazzling array of dance styles, including ballet! It reminded me that dance can truly be enjoyed everywhere.
To get my fix of proper ballet, I went to see an exquisite performance at Teatro dell'Opera di Roma last night. A production of "Swan Lake" that was absolutely magical. The costumes were stunning, and the choreography, well, it left me in awe. It truly is a breathtaking experience to see ballet in a city as magical as Rome.
Shopping Splendour:
Who am I kidding, Rome isn't just about sightseeing, food, and dancing! There's also the glorious shopping! I mean, a trip to Italy isn't complete without finding some hidden treasures in the local boutiques.
I had a lovely afternoon at a small shop just outside the Colosseum, discovering an array of stunning Italian leather bags. They were so beautifully crafted, and I ended up picking up a deep red, oversized tote with intricate embroidery, a perfect match for my tutu outfits!
Of course, I also spent a little too much time at the Prada boutique in Via Condotti (no judgment, right?!). The colours were amazing and I swear I saw my favourite pink in the most luxurious velvet evening gown! It's definitely on my wish list for future performances!
Wednesday Highlights:
Today, I'm feeling adventurous. I’ve already enjoyed the vibrant morning market scene where I purchased some delectable local cheeses. The aroma alone could entice you to buy a kilo!
Later this afternoon, I'll be heading to the Borghese Gallery, to take in some world-class art. The beauty of Renaissance masterpieces combined with the delicate pink blooms in the surrounding gardens? I can already feel the artistic inspiration buzzing in the air!
Tonight, I have tickets for a classical music concert in the beautiful Chiesa di San Carlo al Corso. Classical music always has this beautiful melancholic quality that resonates with me. This should be a truly special evening, even without a single tutu in sight!

I am absolutely smitten with this beautiful city, from the cobblestone streets to the ancient monuments. There’s so much beauty, romance, and laughter in the air, which perfectly embodies the joy of life. And it truly reminds me that, no matter where you go in the world, you can always find a reason to smile and dance, whether you’re twirling in a pink tutu or just enjoying a stroll through the sunlit streets!
