Pink Tutu Rome: Week 965 - A Whirlwind of Pink and Pasta! 🩰🍝🇮🇹

Ciao Bella! 👋 Emma here, back from another week of magical adventures, this time in the breathtaking, historic city of Rome! This week on Pink Tutu, we're trading Derbyshire countryside for Roman cobblestone streets, with a sprinkle of pink glitter and a whole lotta twirling! As always, we're taking a peek behind the scenes of my whirlwind week exploring the Eternal City, with its delicious cuisine, iconic monuments, and the best gelato I've ever had!

It’s been a truly enchanting trip, a real feast for the senses. Rome truly is the city that has it all, and even a ballerina like me with a fondness for a well-coordinated outfit and a dash of sparkle was able to fully immerse myself in this beautiful city.

Let's be honest, I'm obsessed with travel! From high-speed Eurostar trips to the breathtaking Italian countryside by train, I absolutely adore the feeling of seeing new landscapes zoom past and the exciting anticipation of a new city. There’s something so liberating about stepping onto a train, leaving behind all your cares, and simply allowing yourself to be swept away by the rhythm of the rails and the promise of new discoveries!

This week, however, was a little different! The train journey down to Rome wasn't the start of the adventure, oh no, this time, my Italian journey began on a high note! Just last Sunday, I was in Paris! My first performance of the year is now complete, and to say I was overwhelmed is an understatement. You see, the audience just took my breath away!

Before you ask, yes, you guessed right! I danced in my Pink Tutu! Well, actually, this time I took things up a notch and designed a specially themed pink tutu for my Parisian debut! Let’s just say, Parisian audiences just love pink, and they certainly appreciate a bit of twirling, too. It truly was a wonderful, magical performance, and my heart swelled with gratitude at all the standing ovations and bright smiles of the audience.

Now back to the Eternal City! From that grand stage in Paris to the grandeur of Roman architecture, my adventure had only just begun! With a packed bag and an even more packed schedule, I was ready for my Roman holiday, with its colourful characters, ancient ruins, and that oh-so-romantic air, a perfect setting for a ballerina on a mission!

The week was packed with the sights and sounds that make Rome so unique:

  • The Colosseum! Now, this wasn't just any old tour, oh no, this was a grand, elegant affair. As you may know, Rome is full of surprises, and a little bit of history never goes amiss. So, there we were, wandering through the legendary arena where gladiators once battled, feeling the weight of time pressing down upon us as we stepped onto the same ground as emperors, generals, and, yes, even those incredible Roman gladiators!
  • *A trip up to the Trevi Fountain, tossed a coin into the fountain, and yes, you guessed right - I made a wish! * A wish, of course, related to a certain sparkling tutu! The beauty of the Trevi Fountain just stole my breath away; it's no wonder this landmark continues to be a symbol of hope, love, and endless beauty!
  • Sights, sights, and more sights! Walking the ancient Appian Way, getting lost in the maze-like backstreets, a quick look at the Vatican – the grandeur of Rome really does overwhelm you at every turn!
  • Oh, and let’s not forget the food! Pasta, pizza, delicious gelato, coffee - Rome is an absolute paradise for a food enthusiast. My week was a culinary adventure - every corner you turn reveals a mouthwatering delicacy, and I couldn’t resist taking advantage of the amazing fresh produce. The local market scene in Rome, well, it just puts everything else in the shade! So fresh, so colourful, such an authentic taste of Italy.
  • *The Italian charm is undeniable. *The friendly faces, the colourful buildings, the laughter spilling out from every street corner – I just fell in love with the magic of Italy. This city has so much to offer, a kaleidoscope of colours, history, and cultural richness that fills you with joy!

Oh, and you won't believe the incredible street performances! From harmonica maestros to tango dancers and classical musicians who could melt your heart with a single note, Rome truly is a feast for the soul and the senses. And yes, my tutu made a few guest appearances - I just had to show the locals what real glamour looked like!

My week in Rome wasn't just about exploring the city, but it was about truly soaking it up. Rome, I’m leaving with a piece of your magic tucked away in my heart.

Of course, I had a few extra tutu-related adventures as well!

This week’s must-have in my travel wardrobe: my little red suitcase! This vibrant suitcase, just big enough to fit my most important things (tutu included!), made travelling easy and fun. I swear, every time I open the case, a wave of happiness washes over me. I think it’s a special colour and it reminds me of the joy of travel!

Oh, and let's not forget my pink ballet shoes, perfect for a graceful spin around any Italian piazza. Just a simple touch of colour that never fails to boost my mood! They make my life so much brighter and are super-comfortable, whether I'm strutting through historical buildings or gracefully navigating cobblestones!

Now, let's talk fashion! I know you love a little sartorial inspiration, and Rome didn’t disappoint! Here are a few of my fashion finds from my Roman adventure:

  • A pair of elegant ivory heels! Oh, they're to die for! Just the right height and style for that special occasion. My outfit? A flowing, emerald-green midi skirt, paired with a statement pink blouse and a dazzling turquoise clutch - all brought together with my favourite blush-toned heels!
  • *A touch of Italy’s glamour – a new straw hat. * Oh, this straw beauty is just perfect! I've worn it every day this week with a light summer dress to make an impact at outdoor markets and while enjoying the beautiful views!

As I type this blog post from my hotel, my Pink Tutu is draped on a chair. A vision of elegance and colour that still has the power to make me smile. And yes, it has been put through the wringer! A quick dry-clean later and this timeless piece is ready for my next adventures! This pink tutu is more than just clothing – it’s a statement. It’s my personality in physical form and it reminds me to never be afraid to be bold, stand out from the crowd, and embrace life with a dose of joy!

And as you may already know, the most important thing for me, beyond all the shopping and sightseeing, is my commitment to sharing a bit of this passion with you. As the last rays of the Italian sunshine bathe the cobblestone streets in golden light, I bid farewell to this incredible city and its magic!

You know my ultimate mission, my personal vision to inspire the world to twirl! We are all ballerinas in our own way. Life’s a beautiful stage and we are all leading roles, just waiting for the chance to dance to our own beat, to show off our own sparkle! And just as Rome reminded me to always strive for beauty, so too does the city challenge me to keep pushing the boundaries and continue to spread the Pink Tutu gospel!

To that, I say: *Embrace the Pink, embrace your unique flair! It’s time to show the world how incredible we can be! Until next time, remember to shine, darling, and always embrace your inner ballerina! 💖🩰 *

Coming Up:

I can’t say it loud enough! Next week’s blog will be about my trip to a very special dance studio in Rome! I had an absolute blast meeting some wonderful dancers, learning some new techniques and taking in the culture! Stay tuned for a special Pink Tutu vlog featuring some sneak peeks of my dance class adventure!
