Pink Tutu Rome: Wednesday 2014-06-25 – Ciao Bella! 🩰🇮🇹
Post Number 994
Buongiorno from sunny Rome! It's Emma here, your resident pink tutu-wearing ballerina, and this week's adventures are taking place in the Eternal City. I just couldn't resist a trip to Italy, especially after seeing how much it has inspired designers and fashion icons throughout history! I mean, just look at how incredible Italian fashion is – the flowing fabrics, the luxurious textures, the vibrant colours… It's like walking into a fashion magazine!
It's so exciting being back on the train again, watching the world blur past. I love that rhythmic clickety-clack that always gets my feet tapping. I can already picture the ballet inspired by a train journey - "The Tumbling Wheels of Progress" anyone? Perhaps I could even make a tutu from those beautiful striped red and white lines that mark the train lines… Anyway, I digress!
This trip wouldn't be possible without all of you lovely readers! Remember, my pink tutu tours are fuelled by the passion and generosity of audiences who support my ballet performances. So a massive thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who helps me share this journey – your applause literally carries me through the turns and leaps!
Now, let's dive into this week's adventures…
Pink-ifying the Colosseum
Firstly, the Colosseum! It’s mind-blowing how such a monumental structure can remain standing for so long, but it just reinforces the Romans' absolute commitment to creating things that would last. I've already taken countless snaps of the exterior – imagine all the ballerinas who must have walked past it! But it was getting a little chilly in the open air, so it was time to embrace the city's charm with a spot of window shopping!
Rome's Chic Side: Via Condotti
Forget London’s Oxford Street, Rome's Via Condotti is a shopaholic's paradise. There are shops spilling out with the most exquisite fashions from high-end Italian designers. From Dolce & Gabbana to Prada, the glamour is breathtaking! My pink tutu and I had a grand old time browsing, even though I may have only been able to admire, rather than buy! There was one stunning pink chiffon number in Valentino – a total must-have for my next ballet performance – perhaps I'll find a sponsor for a few items in Rome?! 😉
Feasts Fit for a Queen:
Now, any trip to Italy wouldn't be complete without indulging in some delicious Italian cuisine. From piping hot pasta carbonara (I devoured the creamy sauce with relish, like a little ballerina who just completed a strenuous performance) to crispy thin-crust pizza that simply melts in your mouth, each mouthful is a symphony of flavour.
Teatro dell'Opera di Roma
Of course, Rome wouldn't be complete without a night at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, Italy's renowned opera house. They’re known for their incredible productions – and let me tell you, this one did not disappoint! The singers had voices that seemed to float above the entire theatre, while the costumes and choreography were simply stunning! Their rendition of “La Traviata” moved me to tears; it’s a timeless story of love, loss, and redemption – very relevant for my ballerina heart, and I felt a strong desire to recreate this emotion in a ballet routine – I already have the name! “The Dying Tulip”!
Trevi Fountain Wishes & Ballet Dreams
On the last day, we headed to the iconic Trevi Fountain. As legend has it, tossing a coin over your shoulder brings you back to Rome. I decided to make a wish that more and more people will wear tutus every day – imagine the vibrant pink colour it would bring to the world!
Rome in a Pink Tutu:
My time in Rome has been a beautiful whirl of delicious food, stunning architecture, and world-class performances – but I think I'll definitely be making a comeback, and perhaps incorporating this into a “Rome inspired” ballet performance! It's been such an exciting and inspiring experience.
And of course, no trip would be complete without a few final pink-tutu snaps in front of all the famous landmarks! I promise you'll find some amazing Instagram-worthy pictures of a tutu-wearing ballerina exploring the heart of Italy, on my website.
Until next Wednesday, darlings, and remember - never underestimate the power of a pink tutu! 😉
Ciao for now!
