Ciao bellas! It’s Emma here, your pink-tutu-clad travel guide, and this week I’m whisking you away to the magnificent city of Rome, Italy! You know I simply adore hopping on the train and discovering new places, and this trip has been a total dream. From the delicious pasta and gelato to the awe-inspiring history, Rome has been a complete sensory explosion.
But before we delve into the vibrant streets and ancient wonders of the Eternal City, let's talk about what I'm wearing! Of course, a vibrant, swirling pink tutu wouldn't be out of place in Rome, and I’ve been turning heads (and quite a few photo ops, bless 'em!) in this particular number. It’s a classic, multi-layered tulle, with a touch of gold sparkle to match the city’s glittering personality. I even managed to score some cute little Italian-inspired flower crowns that I've been adorning with pride.
Now, on to Rome itself! This city, with its charming cobblestone streets, historic architecture, and endless gelato stalls, is simply captivating. Every corner reveals a hidden treasure – from breathtaking fountains to ancient ruins.
A Dance Through Time:
We arrived on Sunday, which meant a visit to the Colosseum was a must! I mean, you just can’t come to Rome without marvelling at this magnificent arena – a reminder of the city’s powerful past. As I walked through the towering arches, I felt the history buzzing in the air. I imagined the roar of the crowd, the thrill of the gladiatorial combat – all those centuries swirling around me. It was incredible!
The Pantheon – A Masterpiece of Architecture:
My journey into the past continued at the Pantheon, a magnificent temple transformed into a church. This awe-inspiring building has no central pillars, which was quite astounding to see. I love that the dome is perfectly round and pierced by an enormous, eye-catching oculus. It feels so ethereal and divine - the light filtering through that opening simply sets the place alight.
Strolling Through Roman Splendor:
Speaking of light, I've been totally smitten with all the beautiful squares in Rome! They’re like giant open-air galleries, bustling with life yet imbued with a calmness. The Spanish Steps are a picture of beauty, and the Piazza Navona – with its magnificent fountains and street performers - is simply dazzling. I even got some snaps of my pink tutu pirouetting in front of the Trevi Fountain!
Shopping Spree:
Now, no Rome adventure would be complete without indulging in a bit of shopping, and darling, Rome has some of the best! The vintage fashion in Trastevere has me completely enamoured. From antique jewelry and silk scarves to vintage shoes and even some lovely silk ballet costumes - it's all just screaming to be worn. I found a delightful pair of ruby red slingbacks and a pair of shimmery lilac tights - the perfect accent for my pink tutu! And oh my gosh, you wouldn't believe the Italian gelato I found tucked away in a hidden corner... pistachio and hazelnut, absolutely divine!
Ballet Bliss:
Even on my travels, ballet remains my passion, and guess what? Rome has an amazing ballet scene. I managed to catch a performance of "Giselle" at the Teatro dell'Opera di Roma - what a spectacular treat! The dancers were simply divine. The way they moved was so effortless and graceful - their jumps, leaps, and turns were spellbinding.
Funding My Dreams with Dancing:
Speaking of dancing, I can’t forget to mention how I make all these travels possible – with my performances, of course! From elegant shows in local theatres to dazzling street performances that always draw a crowd - I adore the opportunity to connect with others through the art of dance. And seeing a crowd light up with smiles when I take a final bow... well, it’s the most rewarding feeling in the world!

Let's talk pink tutus! I've been getting a lot of stares and even some giggles - but mostly smiles and positive comments! It’s incredible how embracing your uniqueness can truly change your perspective on the world. Wearing a pink tutu in Rome, a city bursting with history and grandeur, has definitely made me feel even more confident, even more myself.

This Wednesday, I'm heading to the Borghese Gallery! I've heard so much about the sculpture collection there, and I simply can't wait to be transported to a world of artistic beauty.
