Pink Tutu Rome: #1002 - A Ballerina's Dream in the Eternal City!

Wednesday, 20th August, 2014

Ciao Bella! It’s Emma from the Pink Tutu, reporting live from the heart of Rome, and I’m already utterly smitten with this magnificent city. It feels like stepping into a scene from one of my favourite ballets – graceful cobblestones, grand architecture, and sunshine that wouldn't look out of place on the stage.

I travelled here from Derbyshire on the Eurostar, which is always such a joy. I do love the train – the clickety-clack, the chance to admire the changing landscapes, the quiet contemplation with a cup of tea – all of it just helps me unwind and embrace the excitement of arriving in a new place. Plus, it gives me time to practice my travelling outfit: a blush-pink shift dress with delicate lace detailing, topped with a fluffy tutu, of course! It goes without saying that I accessorised with a beautiful silk scarf, a pair of vibrant pink heels, and my trusty vintage camera for capturing every glorious moment.

Rome has truly welcomed me with open arms. This morning, I had the most delectable cappuccino while watching the sunrise over the Forum. The energy here is truly electric – history whispers through the cobblestone streets, and I feel a magical pull towards each monument. I'm so glad I decided to spend a week exploring this ancient city.

Today's Itinerary:

  • Ballet Classes in the Pantheon: This morning I found a hidden gem - the beautiful Teatro dell'Opera, where they hold daily ballet classes! Dressed in my favourite pastel-pink leotard and tulle skirt, I felt right at home amidst the graceful dancers. I felt so at peace, surrounded by like-minded souls and moving to the enchanting music of our instructor. The beautiful domed architecture of the Pantheon just added another layer of magic to the experience. Who needs to be at the barre in Derbyshire when you can dance in such an exquisite space?

  • Trevi Fountain Fantasy: It was a complete fairytale, just as I envisioned it! As soon as I spotted the majestic Trevi Fountain, my heart soared! I threw in a few euros (hoping for a wish to dance in every theatre in Rome!), and stood captivated by the dancing water and the stunning carvings. I had a bit of a girly moment, but hey, who wouldn’t get a little bit swept away by this incredible place?

  • Afternoon Fashion Exploration: A must-do in Rome! What better way to absorb the Italian aesthetic than by getting lost in its incredible boutiques and markets? My purse strings were already singing “Ciao, Bella!” to everything, but I had to be strong (and smart) – I was here for vintage treasures, beautiful handmade jewelry, and a bit of Italian fashion flair for the ultimate travel-chic look.

  • La Dolce Vita: Delicious Dining: No trip to Rome would be complete without an evening of mouthwatering pasta, pizza, and decadent gelato. This evening, I am going to treat myself to the finest of the fine – the world-famous la trattoria. Think handmade pasta, crisp prosecco, and a little piece of authentic Rome on my plate!

Pink Tutu Tip of the Day:

    • Embrace the Beauty: Let Rome’s stunning architecture and art inspire you. Every cobblestone, every fountain, every painting – it's all about celebrating beauty and feeling the joy of creation.
    • Wear Your Pink with Confidence: This is Rome, the fashion capital! Don’t be afraid to show off your signature pink tutu with pride and add your own whimsical twist to the Italian chic.

This magical week is only just beginning. Tomorrow, I am exploring the Colosseum and hopefully discovering some local dance events. Stay tuned, and remember to follow my Pink Tutu Adventures on www.pink-tutu.com!

Ciao for now!

Emma
