Pink Tutu Rome: Post #1003 - Wednesday 2014-08-27
Ciao Bella! It's Wednesday and you know what that means? A brand new Pink Tutu Rome blog post! ๐ฉฐ๐ฎ๐น
I'm finally in Rome, and my goodness, this city is something else! It's like stepping into a beautiful fairytale. It's filled with cobblestone streets, gorgeous architecture, and sunshine - it truly is a picture perfect setting.
Today was all about exploring and soaking up the Roman vibes. We're staying in this adorable little hotel right by the Trevi Fountain and let me tell you, it's so charming. The rooms are beautifully decorated and it feels so luxurious!
Speaking of the Trevi Fountain, did you know that if you throw a coin in, you're guaranteed to return to Rome one day? I can't help but believe in the magic of the fountain, and I have a sneaking suspicion that my pink tutu might make a comeback here in Rome... Maybe I'll throw a coin in the fountain and ask to be cast in a ballet performance on the Trevi Fountain itself! Just think of the costumes!
But I'm getting carried away, the day is already brimming with exciting moments. After the usual breakfast of fresh fruit, croissants, and some delectable coffee (did I mention I'm in love with Italian coffee already? So smooth!), we set out on a tour of the Roman Forum. It was so incredible seeing the remains of these ancient structures, and it really gives you a perspective on history. We walked around, snapped a million photos (naturally), and even found a lovely little gelato shop to enjoy some refreshing treats. I couldn't resist a scoop of pistachio, which is absolutely my new favourite flavour!
My heart skipped a beat when we saw a beautiful outdoor ballet performance at the Circus Maximus! A bunch of talented dancers were showcasing their skills, with some absolutely dazzling costumes. Seeing that, made me think about a Pink Tutu ballet performance in Rome. The whole city is an open stage!
Later on, after some delicious lunch at a local cafe, we wandered through the streets, admiring the boutiques, art galleries, and charming local shops. My suitcase may be getting a bit full already (sorry darling!) but I had to buy a stunning leather handbag in a bright red colour (did you know that Rome has such vibrant leather craftsmanship? So gorgeous!) and a handmade miniature porcelain figurine of a ballerina! They'll look perfect on my shelf at home. It feels so glamorous to indulge in a bit of retail therapy in this vibrant city!
In the evening, we ventured to a traditional Roman restaurant that we found through the recommendations of our friendly hotel staff. They made the best homemade pasta I've ever tasted (my heart almost burst with the taste and the feeling of a perfect family pasta feast)! The flavours were incredible, the portions were generous (and definitely enough for two!) and the service was exceptional. It's this little moment of joy, this magic of travelling and trying different cuisines that makes me fall even more in love with this adventure.
But you know what the most important part of the day was? The evening walk to the Trevi Fountain lit by moonlight! It was breathtakingly beautiful. The cascading water, the marble sculpture, the warm glow of the city lights - it felt truly magical. And I even had a moment where I closed my eyes and wished upon a star for a beautiful pink tutu to appear right there, and dance on the steps of the fountain! You've gotta dream big, right?
So, here's to a fabulous first day in Rome. And to answer your question, the weather's been absolutely perfect: warm sunshine, a lovely cool breeze in the evenings - exactly the kind of weather that begs for a romantic stroll around the city with a scoop of gelato in hand.
It wouldn't be a Pink Tutu blog post without a little bit of ballet, right? We caught a wonderful performance at the Teatro dellโOpera di Roma this evening - the costumes were just spectacular and the dancing was even better. The entire audience was on their feet, captivated by the stories that were woven in the steps and movements. There's nothing quite like watching a captivating ballet performance.
Before I end this post, a little tidbit: my mission is to inspire everyone to wear a pink tutu! Remember to share your photos and adventures in your own pink tutu! Who knows? We might even start a worldwide pink tutu dance craze! Itโs all about expressing ourselves and embracing the beautiful side of life! ๐๐ฉฐ
Don't forget to check back next week for more exciting adventures from Rome. And remember, spread the pink tutu love wherever you go! Ciao bella! ๐
