Pink Tutu Rome: #1004 – A Roman Holiday! 🩰🇮🇹

Hello, darling Tutu lovers! 🎀 It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another Pink Tutu Rome adventure! I'm Emma, and I'm so thrilled to be writing this post from the heart of the Eternal City, where ancient history collides with modern chic! Rome truly feels magical, and I can’t wait to share my explorations with you.

This week’s journey began in my little Derbyshire village. I woke up early, the morning mist swirling around the rolling hills like a gentle ballet. A quick slice of toast and a cuppa, then I was off to the station, clutching my trusty pink ballet bag. You see, I fund these exciting escapades with my ballet performances! Each week, I grace a different stage, enchanting audiences with my pirouettes and grand jetés. And when I'm not performing, I’m usually designing my own pink tutu creations! It's a busy life, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

The train ride to Rome was delightful. It was one of those beautiful sunny days when the fields turned into golden pools of light, and I just couldn’t resist putting on a pink-hued, silk scarf I bought from a vintage boutique in Paris. I love the way the train rattles along, making the most enchanting soundtrack for a journey! It reminds me of my childhood when we used to take weekend trips to visit my aunt in Yorkshire, me nestled between my parents with my favourite pink ballerina teddy bear, dreaming of magical adventures.

Rome welcomed me with open arms. The first whiff of that intoxicating Italian air, a delightful blend of fragrant basil, fresh pastries, and that almost sweet-smoky smell of old terracotta buildings. Oh, it was like heaven for my senses!

And speaking of heavenly, darling, let me tell you, Rome's shopping scene is absolute heaven for a pink tutu enthusiast! Every boutique, every vintage store, every little hole-in-the-wall shop oozes with vibrant fabrics and sparkling accessories! I snagged the most exquisite blush-pink silk ribbon for my newest tutu creation. Just wait till you see it! I’m already envisioning it flowing in a waltz, perfectly accentuating my signature twirls. 🩰

Speaking of twirls, this week, I’ve been captivated by the Rome Opera House, where I enjoyed a ballet performance featuring the incredible Italian ballet legend, Giselle DiVirgilio! It was a dream come true. Her movements were fluid and precise, like delicate brushstrokes on a canvas of air. Giselle effortlessly transformed between grace and power, leaving the audience in a breathless awe. You could hear a pin drop as the final note rang through the hall, only to be replaced by a thunderous applause! Afterwards, we strolled along the romantic Via dei Condotti, admiring the window displays and, of course, indulging in gelato. (I chose a delightful pink raspberry sorbet! I can’t resist the colour pink!).

I also took a trip to the Colosseum! Now, this grand amphitheater might not be known for its pink tutus, but darling, trust me, even the ancient Romans loved a good show! Just imagine the energy of a gladiator duel unfolding before them, the roar of the crowd, the anticipation! You could almost hear the thunderous beats of a symphony orchestra amidst the echoes of history. I had to wear my newest fuchsia ballet slippers and my little, hand-beaded, pink sequin shrug to match the glitter of the ancient mosaics!

I wouldn’t leave Rome without experiencing the enchanting piazzas. I mean, how can you not get swept away by the ambiance? Sipping coffee in Piazza Navona, watching street artists paint masterpieces in the afternoon light, listening to the gentle rhythm of a mandolin playing a soft serenade.

Then, there’s Piazza di Spagna with its majestic staircase. Darling, it's so cinematic! I couldn’t help but feel like a movie star from the golden age of Hollywood, my pink tutu shimmering under the sun. And it gave me a whole new idea for my next photo shoot. Just imagine it, dear readers: The Spanish Steps with my pink tutu as the centrepiece. It will be a truly majestic affair!

But darling, enough about my fabulous adventures. What about you? Do you have a dream travel destination? Where have you been? What are your favourite things to do? Please share your stories with me in the comments below!

I also want to know: what's your favourite ballet? Which ballerina inspires you? And most importantly, how are you embracing pink tutus in your life? Don’t be shy!

Now, darling, I must bid you farewell for this week. I have an early morning performance in the stunning Teatro dell'Opera di Roma! And you know me, I love the theatre! So, I will leave you with the image of the glorious Italian sunset over the Roman skyline. 🌇 And remember, even amidst the bustling city, the enchantment of ballet lives on. It whispers through the streets, in the heart of each individual, and it is a joy to share! Until next week, keep twirling and stay pink!

With all my love and pirouettes,

Emma xoxo
