Pink Tutu Rome - Post 1020 - #PinkTutuRome - Wednesday 24th December 2014

Oh my darlings, how splendid to have you back for another edition of Pink Tutu Rome! Iā€™ve been back in the Eternal City for a few days now, and I simply must share my festive adventures with you. The Christmas spirit is alive and well here, just like in my beloved Derbyshire, and it's simply enchanting!

A Magical Train Ride into the Heart of Italy

As usual, I arrived by train, of course. The rhythmic clackety-clack of the rails is music to my ears, and what a journey it was! There's just something so exciting about speeding through a country in a silver chariot, watching the landscape change, knowing a fabulous adventure awaits. My fellow passengers seemed enchanted by my pink tutu ā€“ some gasped, others smiled, and all of them felt a little bit of the magic I carried with me. After all, who can resist a touch of whimsy, especially during the festive season?

The Coliseumā€™s Grandeur, Wrapped in Festive Sparkle

First stop: the iconic Colosseum. You just cannot come to Rome and miss this breathtaking monument. This time though, the Colosseum wasn't just majestic, it was resplendent in Christmas cheer! A towering Christmas tree stood majestically in the heart of the arena, all lit up in twinkling lights. The ancient stone glowed in the fading light, and even the cold felt festive as the air hung heavy with the scent of pine. I can't help but imagine the ancient Roman gladiators partaking in festive festivities here. Perhaps a Roman ballet performance? The possibilities, they simply sparkle!

A Sweet Surprise at the Vatican

I wouldnā€™t be a true Pink Tutu traveller if I didnā€™t pop by the Vatican to say hello to Saint Peter's Basilica. The Christmas decorations inside were simply exquisite - evergreen garlands and twinkling fairy lights brought the centuries old mosaics to life. I have to admit, my inner child was delighted when I spotted a Christmas market bursting with heavenly smelling treats. There I indulged in a beautiful piece of panettone - a traditional Italian Christmas cake, so deliciously fluffy and laced with candied fruit. My tummy and my tastebuds are truly happy!

Rome by Night - A Magical Fairy Tale

After all that festive wandering, nothing felt better than strolling around the Piazza Navona in the evening. The twinkling lights illuminated the Renaissance fountains and statues, casting magical shadows across the cobblestones. I imagined myself as a young Roman princess in a shimmering ballgown, dancing the night away beneath the illuminated Roman skies. Maybe I can get a tutu to match this starry night... Hmm!

Shopping in Style ā€“ My Pink Tutu Finds

I can't go anywhere without exploring the local boutiques and I had to indulge in some delightful finds for my Pink Tutu wardrobe! Imagine a deep crimson, silk blouse with sparkling pink embellishments, just perfect for a festive evening. And I snagged the most beautiful handmade pink leather handbag ā€“ the perfect size for carrying my essential lipstick and ballets shoes! My dear friend Carla, who works in a fabulous atelier here, has gifted me the most glorious pink tulle, and I'm already imagining the beautiful tutu I'll create. Oh, I'm bubbling with ideas!

A Performance to Remember - The Magic of Opera

Rome truly is the ultimate cultural paradise. Tonight, I'll be attending a captivating performance at Teatro dellā€™Opera di Roma. I have tickets for ā€œCarmen,ā€ one of my absolute favorite operas. The passionate story and music, combined with the dramatic costumes and opulent sets, are always a pure delight. This will be the perfect festive treat, donā€™t you agree? Oh, Iā€™m already in my ballet shoes, ready to take in every minute!

The Pink Tutu Philosophy: Spreading Joy, One Tutu at a Time

So, my dear darlings, there you have it. Another fantastic Pink Tutu adventure, and this time, with a dash of festive magic thrown in! Remember, Iā€™m all about spreading joy and inspiring people to embrace their inner whimsicality. Iā€™m already envisioning myself at my upcoming show in Covent Garden next month - my dancers all wearing their own specially designed Pink Tutues! How splendid will that be?! Just like Rome, every city has the potential to shimmer with the magic of Pink Tutu! Until next Wednesday, stay fabulous, and don't forget to live life to the fullest ā€“ just like your favourite ballerina.

Love always,

Emma * The Pink Tutu Diary:*

This post is all about a girlā€™s day out. To make it more impactful, I will consider these points:

  • Character Focus: Emma, our ballerina blogger, is fun-loving, fashionable and believes in spreading joy and making everyone feel special. This is a huge opportunity to have her engage with other characters (fellow travelers, shop assistants etc.) and spread a little pink-tutu love.
  • Visuals: I'll encourage her to have vibrant photos from Rome, especially the ones showcasing Christmas decorations and of course, her favourite outfits.
  • Festive Theme: There are opportunities to weave a Christmas theme throughout the blog, not only the Christmas market or decorations. Maybe even the opera has a Christmassy theme.
  • Cultural Exploration: The story of a ballerina blogger will explore how she integrates the new city's culture. Maybe, thereā€™s a ballet school, a performance she could watch, or even a traditional Italian dance that ties into her love for movement.

I'll ensure this blog post reads like a chatty and positive blog about her day with just the right touch of 'pink-tutu magic!'

Let me know what you think and if you have any ideas for this #PinkTutuRome adventures!
