Darling readers,
Can you believe it? New Year's Eve in Rome! It's truly a dream come true, and it feels even more magical than I could ever have imagined. Just as I thought I'd reached peak pink tutu bliss, this trip has truly elevated everything. The energy in Rome is simply electric! It's buzzing with excitement, especially today, with everyone preparing for the new year.
This week, I'm writing to you straight from my fabulous Rome hotel room, with the twinkling lights of the Colosseum just visible through the window. Imagine this, darling – me in a fluffy pink tutu, the air scented with jasmine, and the warmth of the Roman sun spilling onto my skin. I simply can't think of a more magical place to ring in the new year!
This journey started with a lovely train journey down from Derbyshire – how I love the train! It's such a relaxing way to travel, allowing you to enjoy the scenery and get a real sense of the places you're passing through.
The train journey gave me the perfect opportunity to try out my new travel outfit - a divine blush pink maxi-dress paired with my go-to pink tutu, of course! I couldn't resist stopping for a few photos at the platform - the other passengers loved it! They looked at me with such admiration, and one even said "Mamma Mia!" – how darling is that? I really feel like a pink-hued ray of sunshine spreading joy wherever I go.
As the train sped through the rolling hills of Italy, I spent hours planning out my Rome tutu-adventures, flipping through my vintage fashion magazines and planning outfits to match each new sight. My trusty pink tutu, of course, will feature heavily! I have plans to twirl on cobblestone streets, waltz through piazzas, and take a picture-perfect photo in front of the Trevi Fountain – just imagine the photos! I even plan to incorporate the iconic Roman colour palette into my outfits – earthy tones, burnt orange, terracotta and splashes of emerald green – it'll be utterly fabulous.
Now, the ultimate pink tutu girl is all about experiencing life in the most wonderful way – and let me tell you, that includes delicious food. Oh, how I have missed the delights of Italian cuisine! I’ve already savoured the freshest pasta, enjoyed a mouth-watering pizza in a quaint pizzeria tucked away in a little side street, and I've fallen in love with the incredible gelato, topped with delicate sprinkles of edible gold. My darling readers, it's a culinary delight! And let's not forget the wonderful coffee, perfect for indulging in the early evening sunshine, sitting in a cosy café watching the world go by.
This week has been packed full of excitement! We started our exploration by getting lost in the narrow winding streets, stumbling upon hidden treasures and finding the perfect pink-themed café where I treated myself to a delicious strawberry and whipped cream panini. Delicious, darling! We even stumbled across a street performance – the energy was unbelievable! We got completely swept up in it and had such fun cheering along! The dancer was brilliant, twirling effortlessly in their scarlet costume – I simply had to grab a photo.
On New Year's Eve, the entire city transforms into a breathtaking fairyland of twinkling lights, live music, and everyone enjoying themselves. The air is filled with a joyous, excited atmosphere – everyone seems to be feeling amore – love.
Today, we visited the Trevi Fountain, and as the crowds gathered for the New Year's Eve countdown, I was mesmerized by its beauty. I'm thinking of sneaking in a tutu-clad spin under the fountain at midnight - it's just too much to resist, isn't it? I even have a special pink feather boa ready to make the moment extra fabulous! I’ll be sure to post photos later.
The magical air of the season, coupled with the intoxicating spirit of Rome, has sparked a wonderful inspiration in me - a brand new tutu design! This one is going to be exquisite - an explosion of glittering sequins, intricate lacework, and swirls of pink fabric. Oh, how I can't wait to see it take shape.
I know it's tempting to spend this special night at one of the grand parties that are taking place all around Rome. However, I think I might find a cozy corner somewhere with a spectacular view of the city, raise a glass of sparkling wine, and simply soak in the moment, embracing this magical night in the heart of Italy. I'll be thinking of you all and wishing you a wonderful New Year filled with joy, love, and pink tutu moments.
