Ciao bella! This is your darling Emma, bringing you a little bit of sunshine from sunny Rome. Now, I know what you're thinking, "Rome in January? What's the point?". Well, my dears, Rome is absolutely enchanting at any time of year, and I'm determined to show you why!
Before I spill the beans on my Roman adventures, a quick update from my life. My week was jam-packed with fabulousness. I performed a dazzling 'Nutcracker' solo for the Derbyshire County Ballet, which always sends shivers of joy down my spine. The little darlings in the audience were practically bouncing with delight – it’s what it’s all about, isn't it?
As for funding my fabulous Italian escapade? Well, it's all thanks to my recent stint at the grand Palais Garnier in Paris. My tutus really stole the show during a Fantasia production. Talk about a glamorous life, eh? All those fabulous Parisian nights in a whirlwind of lace, feathers, and glittery stage lights - I wouldn't have it any other way.
Rome Sweet Rome
Now back to the main attraction. I've just stepped off a beautifully romantic Italian train journey to arrive in Rome. Honestly, the romance of the train travel is hard to beat! Picture it: vintage red carriages, billowing plumes of smoke, and charming Italian chatter all around. It's like something out of a fairy tale!
My favourite bit? The cafe carriage with its delicious biscotti, creamy cappuccinos, and warm smiles all around. My tip: make sure to take a seat by the window to marvel at the spectacular Italian countryside passing by.
Rome has a kind of magic to it that makes you feel like you’re walking into an ancient movie set. Think cobblestone streets, stunning architecture that seems to whisper stories of emperors and gladiators, and a whole lot of passion in the air!
First Glimpse of La Dolce Vita
As I strolled through the heart of Rome, the Piazza Navona, I was immediately enchanted by its buzzing energy. A whirlwind of buskers playing sweet melodies, street performers with impressive acrobatics, and families enjoying gelatos, while children chase pigeons.
Speaking of pigeons, let's talk food! Oh my, my tastebuds are dancing with joy! The food is simply sensational! From creamy, creamy carbonara and perfectly al dente spaghetti alla matriciana to a pizza so thin it feels like a dream (the mozzarella melted in my mouth like butter!). It's a food lover's dream come true!
Rome Shopping – Pink Heaven!
No trip to Rome would be complete without a spot of shopping, and you know my love affair with fashion knows no bounds. I'm particularly excited to explore the streets of Trastevere, a charmingly bohemian neighbourhood that promises some serious vintage finds. My eyes are peeled for a stunning pink clutch and maybe a scarf or two with a fabulous Roman print. And don't even get me started on the amazing pink tutu boutiques. If my suitcases weren't already brimming, I'd buy every one!
Roman Rhapsody: Ballet Beauty
My Italian escapade wouldn't be complete without experiencing the enchanting world of Roman ballet. Luckily for me, there's a spectacular ballet performance taking place at Teatro dell'Opera tonight, and let me tell you, the program is utterly fabulous. The ballet is "La Fille mal gardée" and promises to be a light-hearted delight, perfect for an evening of romantic elegance. And of course, I'll be making a grand entrance in my signature pink tutu.
More adventures tomorrow, my darlings!
My head's already brimming with plans. A Roman sunrise stroll, perhaps some exploring through the majestic Colosseum and a gondola ride on the River Tiber. It seems Rome is just brimming with adventure, and I can't wait to share more of it with you in my next post! Stay tuned, darlings, and never forget, it's always a good day for a pink tutu!
